DigitalOut
I am finally thinking about selling my beloved R700. I bought it for around $270. Dropped it a couple of times so it makes a buzzing noise when I turn it on. I am thinking of selling it for around $125. What should I buy? Hi-MD sounds tempting and useful but it's not like I can go down to Best Buy and get one. So where would i good place to buy new MDs? Also where to buy Hi- minidiscs. should i wait and see if Best Buy will carry them? Or go with NetMD players like the R909. Or keep my baby. Here's a list of what i want out of my minidisc as a reference: 1. Mic jack- have to record for calculus and great for concerts. 2. AA battery- I like being able to use different AA batteries just incase. 2. Reliable 3. Able to use my old MD's on it- (I know Hi-MD is able to do it) My main list is probably: Thanks for help in advance- http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-NH900.html http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-NHF800.html and Alternative: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-R909.html
Christopher
So, you will use the unit for music, right? I couldn't figure that from your post. If so, would you want NetMD for the high-speed transfers? Honestly, if I were you, I'd just wait and get a basic Hi-MD unit [NH700] if you're not going to use it much for music. If you are, then get the NH900. Since you seem to be keen to recording in a mic scenario, then you'll definitely enjoy the high-speed digital uploading. p.s. btw, the R909 is not NetMD, the N909 is. Not to nitpick, just want to make sure you know. Welcome!
DigitalOut
Thanks kurisu... So about 25 more days till I see a Hi-MD in my hands. Do you think it would be better to find/buy on the Internet or search around the city for one. Also should I ask for more out of my R700? Hi-MiniDiscs are a bit bigger right so i can fit a bigger avery label on it. Thanks for that little trick.
Christopher
I would definitely purchase it off the internet. If my assumptions are correct, they'll probably charge a little higher than the MSRP at stores. If your R700 is faulty, and makes a "buzzing noise", I don't know if you could fetch that much. When I sold my R700 I got around that much and the unit was in near-mint condition. eBay is an odd bedfellow, sometimes in your favor, sometimes not. If I were you I wouldn't expect more than $75 - $100, assuming it's a complete package. No problem about the Avery! I haven't made a Minidisc label in a long time. Life sure has gotten busy since then. I need to get back into the groove with that..
