Declan
In spite of many peoples reservations about these new gadgets I'm hearing a few saying "I can't wait!" Whadya think? Should I, like, reserve a unit at the retailer of my choice? Will SonyStyle.com have loads of 'em? I can wait but I'd hate to have to wait any longer with my tax refund languishing in anticipation! Rumz
My bet is that the best deals will be had online anyways. Even if you *don't* intend to buy online, go ahead and visit an e-tailer that has Hi-MD units listed, and sign up to be notified when the unit becomes available. At least then, if you don't buy online, you'd know when to check your local retailer. I'm currently signed up with etronics.com to have them notify me when the NH1 and NH900 become available. Hope it's not too long! (Yes, I can't wait.)
efenili
I just recently became interested in MD stuff. I am in the market for an MP3 player. I don't need more than 1 or 2 gigs, I hate those who drive ones. And I don't fancy the really small ones that use memory sticks of some kind. I need a replacement for my CD/MP3 player that can fit in my pocket. I have decided to wait for the release of the Hi-MS to purchase. Having inside help from a few friends who are employees I hope to get one fast and with a nice hefty discount. I am in line I guess!
KJ_Palmer
I have an NH700 on order at AVLand in the UK. I should really have plumped for the NH900, but at least this will give me a flavour. I'll wait till the NH900 or a Sharp becomes available in the shops for a better model.
highlandsun
Where's the etronics.com waiting list? Christopher
LOL, just a simple typo highland. :rasp: Yes, there definitely is a line forming. I think one greater than we realize - as Sony has certainly revolutionized the Minidisc format to make it much more attractive to anyone with interest in portable audio. The question is, how is Hi-MD NOT appealing? I'm going to purchase a NH900 as soon as possible. I can't wait.
Guest NRen2k5
It's not a typo. It is, however, somewhat of a mistake. All minidisc units with digital inputs have a sampling rate converter built in, so that signals other than 44.1kHz, e.g. 32kHz or 48kHz can be recognized and recorded. Rumz
Yes, typo... the text actually says Sampling RAGE, rather than sampling RATE. At least, that's what I'd call a typo. Anyways, it's not really a "waiting list", per se, but you can go to etronics.com, do a quick search for the model number of the unit you're interested in, go to it's product page, and on the product page is a link that says "e-mail when available", after which you'll be prompted for an e-mail address so they can notify you when it's available. No prices on their site yet, so no pre-orders and no "line". If they were taking pre-orders, there might be a line  As it is, it's just a first-come first-serve type of deal. highlandsun
Yah, I knew what they meant, but I liked my interpretation better.... These HiMD units better not be delayed. Looks like my MZN10 has dropped a few times too many, and it has a hard time locking onto tracks now; sometimes it starts right away but lots of times it takes minutes before it can find the beginning of a track.
