krisj
I have dozens of MDs recorded from vinyl in the original MD format (my first minidisc recorder was an MZ-R3). Desirable features: 1. Portability 2. Fairly fine-grained pitch control (-/+ 10% in 1% intervals would be okay) 3. Seamless single track repeat (the MZ-R50 does this, but I understand newer models have a noticeable pause when the track restarts. Is this also true for Hi-MD?) 4. Line level in and out 5. Easy controls (especially for putting the player into single-track repeat mode). Do the Hi-MD portables have these features? Thanks, Kris
BJ
The MZ-R900 from Sony might fit the bill. The pitch control may not be as fine as you need (and it's only operable through the remote control, so make sure you have it), and I did notice that my 900 gives a very slight pause during the very first cycle of a Repeat-1 function--but for every subsequent repeat there is no pause. Weird. You might want to stick with the older technology for that, but the 900 definitely has portability and a good battery life. Solid, too, and these days probably pretty cheap. Anybody know about the Hi-MDs?
