KJ_Palmer
Yes, the Sharp will play anything recorded on any other MD unit, as will the Sony's. Overall, I'd go for the Sharp for its 1-bit digital amp, which gives it a lovely crystal clear playback quality.
basti
and what's about the Sharp BeatJam NetMD Software??? does it work very well? and are the sharp net-md recorders compatible with the Sonic Stage Software?
KJ_Palmer
I've only used BeatJam for titling, but that seemed to work well. Sonic Stage didn't seem to recognise the Sharp when it was plugged in, so I have to have them both installed. I don't know if there's a way around this. basti
i've heard some problems about the sharp beatjam software, for example that some tracks couldn't be copied to the sharp net-md, i mean that there is completely silence instead of the track. have you heard about this problem? KJ_Palmer
Yes, one or two people over at T-board seem to have had that problem, I think with high bit-rate MP3's or something. I'm afraid I can't help on that one, I'm a real-time recorder only.... Also I stand corrected, it seems that Sonic Stage should also be compatible with the Sharps, but that's out of my league too... iceeedtea
and what's about the Sharp BeatJam NetMD Software?BeatJam is nothing but a glorified, customized version of OpenMG. Just as buggy as its Sony counterpart. Best that you stay far away from it and use SonicStage. And who in this forum knows about the software(-problems)?I do. Since it seems that I'm always the tech who is stuck troubleshooting problems of users. You will only run into problems with strange MP3s; most will work fine. SonicStage/OpenMG/BeatJam do not seem to like variable bit rate MP3s, MP3s with too high or too low of bitrates. If you run into problems, take a look at the Nero + Simple Burner method of transfer. And yes, Simple Burner works with Sharp units. Transfered files will be of the same quality as if you transfered it directly using MP3 -> [ATRAC3 conversion] -> MD. Execpt, this process takes a bit longer, since you need to burn a virtual image file to disk [the process, actually, is MP3 -> [decompress to .wav/pcm for standard Audio CD format] -> Simple Burner -> MD].
