Rondo
Hi guys I'm new to both the site and MD. Just purchased a MZ-N910 and I have had a play and am quite impressed by the MD souns in SP/LP2 although LP4 is a bit TOO compressed Having read the posts here I decided to go straight for the download of SS2.0 (I then also installed Real Player 10) In SS2.0 The "Get CD Info" box under "Tools" is greyed out so I can not use it. Also under Tools/Options/Get CD Info I only have options to change where the info is stored and the cache size. There are no other options. The help says something about registering but there is nowhere for me to register. There is no "+" sign next to "Get CD Info" How do I get the info for the CD thorugh CDDB All works fine in RP10 Also will Sony be issuing a genuine SS2.0 update download for those of us with SS1.5? Many thanks Rondo
Rondo
Well After a bit more playing last night I found that RP10 kept crashing after 3 or 4 tracks being transferred. Each time I restarted it it would do 3 or 4 more and then crash again. It took about 3/4 hour to transfer a CD which I think is pretty appalling given this is only slightly less than real time Uninstalled everything (SS2.0 and RP10) and reinstalled SS2.0 but found CDDB still greyed out. Then reinstalled RP10 and it still keeps crashing after 3 or 4 tracks. This is most unsatisfcatory - I have a program (SS2.0) that can transfer tracks (although I haven't actually checked they transfer yet due to the CDDB problem) but I then have to manually name everything or I have a program (RP10) which can name the tracks but can't transfer them Using W98SE on a PIII 800MHz PLEASE can anyone help or do I send the MZ-N910 back and give up on MD which seems a shame as I like the sound
iceeedtea
Please read this and follow the instructions carefully, deleting the specified directories and registry keys. It is not a hardware issue with your N910; it is software. Don't you just love Sony? :whatever: Failing that, try it on a different system, perhaps? In addition....make sure that you look through the registry and delete any CDDB keys.

Rondo
Pleased to report that after a full uninstall, regedit and install it seems to be working now  Expect more dumb questions to follow as I start to use it Thanks for the help
Rondo
Well I spoke too soon After transferring 3 cds into my library it has all gone wrong. It will now transfer a few tracks and then the program crashes "this program has performed an illegal operation and will be closed" This is the same as was happening with RP10 before (though I uninstalled and deleted registry entries for that and did not reinstall it) This is all very exasperating and not a good introduction to MD.
