European MZ N10 2mW audio Help

Hi I am desperate for some help.........

Does anybody know if the European version of the MZ N10 which I have with only 2mW per channel audio output can be converted to the standard 5mW per channel as the rest of you have?

The output of the European version is really choked because of this.It sounds C...p

Is it a EEPROM tweek or is the mainboard different?

can anyone supply the EEPROM values for the non-European model.

Regards

Geoff :

You cannot adjust anything in the EEPROM to get a higher output. All Sony Euro units are capped and it cannot be altered. Your options are to live with it, do your homework next time [not being mean, but seriously], buy a headphone amplifier, or buy a new unit. Sorry, and don't judge Minidisc on this one bad experience - there are alot of great MD products out there without this limitation..

Hi

Thanks for the reply, I don't know about homework one does'nt expect the flagship model to be one of the worst.I have a MZN505 and a MZ N1,

all with 5mW output. The N10 was a gift from my wife.My thinking is that Sony would have designed the unit to work on 5mW per channel originally and as you say cappped the Euro model, and I thought it might have used a form of the AVLS setting to reduce output.

I a am a big fan of minidisc . Also I might add that it is marketed as having 5mw output but only when you get the user manual after purchase do you find the true output.

Kind Regards

Geoff

It's not Sony's fault - they are merely obligating with a law that France has put in place to limit headphone outputs for portable music players in all of Europe.

But that is 'nt 2mW and yes I do blame Sony Poorly thought through products deserve poor reviews, otherwise we all end up with C..p!
