Richard8037
Sony mentions 'encryption' in its literature on Hi-MD. Does anyone know what the implications of this are - recordings only playable on the machine on which they were made or something? Any other copy-protection issues we need to know about? Just wondering.... TIA, Richard
Christopher
Encryption basically meaning that the recorded/encoded file cannot be manipulated by anything else except for the associated program(s). These files, with a *.hma extension, will most likely be just as difficult to decipher as the previous NetMD encrpytion. Your one statement, about being only able to play it in one player and such, that is not true. There are also no limits on "check-in" and "check-out" in Sonicstage II, the program [in a sense] that was made to interface with Hi-MD.
