Hi,

Since 1999 I have the fantastic pioneer MEH-P9000R in my car. Until now it has performed flawlessly. But since a few months when I insert a disk I sometimes get the error "ERROR-17" after the message "READING TOC" and then it does nothing. I am getting this more and more.

Both with 74 minutes disks and with 80 minutes disks. I record them using a hifi sony minidisk recorder (but I don't know which model)

Is the minidisk drive worn out? or does it just need a cleaning? How can I do that?

whoeps, sorry about the double post...

Your problem might well be some dust in the unit. You can try using an MD head cleaner, such as the discwasher, or try a blast of compressed air (but be careful).

You (or better, a qualified Pioneer service person) might also be able to take the unit apart and give the laser a proper clean (with alcohol).

Hope that helps.
