tmt
Hi, Since 1999 I have the fantastic pioneer MEH-P9000R in my car. Until now it has performed flawlessly. But since a few months when I insert a disk I sometimes get the error "ERROR-17" after the message "READING TOC" and then it does nothing. I am getting this more and more. Both with 74 minutes disks and with 80 minutes disks. I record them using a hifi sony minidisk recorder (but I don't know which model) Is the minidisk drive worn out? or does it just need a cleaning? How can I do that? whoeps, sorry about the double post...
KJ_Palmer
The other post has been deleted... Your problem might well be some dust in the unit. You can try using an MD head cleaner, such as the discwasher, or try a blast of compressed air (but be careful). You (or better, a qualified Pioneer service person) might also be able to take the unit apart and give the laser a proper clean (with alcohol). Hope that helps.
