bemax
I have just installed Sonic Stage 2.0 using Iceeedtea's installer. *Thanks* And it seems to work but I am still having a few problems. When I go to import a couple of CDs into the database, it imports the first one fine but when I insert the next CD it doesn't recognize that a new CD has been inserted and CDDB info returns the info for the first CD. Is there a way to force Sonic Stage to recognize the insertion of a new CD? I have found that if I use the eject button on the display of Sonic Stage, it sometimes will get it right but then it will only show the number of tracks present on the previous CD (for example, if CD #1 had 7 tracks and I finally get it to recognize CD #2 which has 9 tracks, it will only show the first 7 tracks in the Source window. Has anyone else had this problem? I guess I can go back to M3U2SB but I like the convenience of Sonic Stage Any and all help appreciated in advance. Great board by the way. Christopher
Did you have a previous version of Sonicstage, OpenMG or anything else related installed before you installed Sonicstage 2? Welcome to the forums, btw.
polario
I had the same problem with SonicStage. Turned out to be OS related. Fixed it by enabling the Autorun feature for CD-ROMs. See Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles 155217 (W2k) or 330135 (XP). Read the articles and concentrate on the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesCDRom Autorun=1 Please do be careful when modifying the system registry as you could make your OS go nuts... And as kurisu pointed out, your problem might be related to some other software issue. /Polario
bemax
Thank you for the info. I uninstalled all of the Sony software before I installed the Iceeedtea version of SS 2.0. I even cleared the Sony registry keys. I was wondering about the autorun feature so I'll try that. Thanks for the replies. I'll post back if I solve the problem. bemax
 Turning on the CD insertion detection in the registry did the trick. Thanks for the help. Now I can see if I like SS better than the SB + Nero method. By the way, I just installed Iceeedtea's SS 2.0 on top of my SB + Nero setup and it worked fine, no problems. Don't know if that will work for everyone but I got tired of uninstalling and reinstalling 3 or 4 times a week and just tried it. Again, thanks to everyone for the help. danield42
I have a different problem.here goes. I got a MiniDisc player for christmas. It's a Sont Net MD Walkman MZ-N420D. Everything's going great, and then two days ago, i tried to transfer some songs, and it froze. Sonic Stage completely froze. It got 20% of the converting done, and then it froze. I don't know if this is a software problem, or a minidisc problem. Also, whenever i try to play my minidisc in Sonic Stage, there's no sound. The songs on my hard drive play in sonic stage with sound, but not my MD. It plays, but no sound. I've uninstalled, and re-installed the program, and still nothing.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
A440
SonicStage 2.0 is awful. If it has a tool to backup your library (look under Tools or Options or whatever for "backup tool") then do that. Then uninstall it completely according to this FAQ http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071and download SonicStage 3.1 either from Sony http://sonicstage.connect.com/SonicStageInstaller.exeor from here:http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9845The new SonicStage should run a lot better. jadeclaw
@danield42: NetMD does NOT play the music via computer. Use the headphone connector instead.
