StanleyNTL
Having successfully installed Iceeedteas hacked version of SS2 (and routed out Sony garbage on system), I still have teething troubles. I did install update from Sony.com for SS2, was this wise? CDDB does not work - server not found - no matter how many times I try! :rasp: DVD drive reading of CDs does not work with SS2, despite "Drive Test" procedure - disc is severely thrashed around for over 2 minutes, before it will release back to SS2!!! aaaarrggghhh! CD reading will only work correctly from my CDRW drive. :whatever: Both drives are Samsung and installed on Dell 8250 with WinXP SP1. Anyone clued up on the above bother!? CDDB does work on EasyCD Creator Platinum, and DVD drive is okay with rest of WinXP and apps.
Christopher
Welcome to the forums. First off, uninstall everything. Quote How to properly reinstall NetMD: 1. Uninstall all OpenMG related software via the Add/Remove Programs control panel and reboot as necessary. This means, OpenMG 2.2, related 'Limited Patches' and the 'Secure Module', SonicStage, Simple Burner, and RealOne. Make sure that you unplug your unit. 2. If you run Windows XP, proceed to delete directories within 'Program FilesAll UsersApplication DataSony Corporation' 'Program FilesCommon FilesSony Shared' 'Program FilesSony' relating to OpenMG. 3. Start -> Run -> regedit. The 'Registry Editor' utility should appear on your screen. Delete the references to OpenMG located under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSony Corporation' and 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareSony Corporation' by right-clicking on the entries. 4. Download the newest versions of the NetMD software. Be sure to install the device drivers for your unit before starting installation.* After installation, start the software and plug in your unit. * In the case of using SonicStage 2.0 "iceeedtea's build", the device drivers are installed with the program automatically; thus, you need not install seperate drivers unless you utilize a non-Sony unit.Re-install iceeedtea's build without any other action [i.e. downloading stuff from Sony], and then get back to me. StanleyNTL
Have done uninstall and reinstalled iceeedteas build only : CDDB now works okay, recognition of CDs in DVD drive is still slow - taking over a minute before TOC is returned. CD access in CDRW drive fine. Sony sent me a real SonicStage 2.0 ROM today, DVD drive access is no better for this, plus it loses ability to write mp3 and audio CDRs. Release is 2.0AE. Should future updates to SS2 be installed or not? re: update on USA support site or that from Sony ASIA support site. Regards, Darren
Christopher
Byte for byte [and functionality wise], iceeedtea's version still seems to be the best.
