karnalz28
I've had a love of MD for a while now, but recently have some questions and was hoping someone could answer... 1. Using Foobar2k to play through the Xitel MD-Port DG1, I'm unable to get "sync'd track marks"... It's been about a year since I've used this accessory (and back then I was using winamp)... Last I recall, when Winamp would get to the next song, it would put a small gap (split second) and the minidisc recorder would interpret that as a track mark. I can't seem to get this with fb2k. Also, I don't want the "2 second gap" either, because that doesn't exactly make the recordings mostly gapless.... 2. For a while, my unit has had a problem in recording -- I've recently hand-cleaned the unit, and am doing testing now, but it seems that if I use this unit to record, it works it's way through happily. When I play back the last 10-15 minutes of the MD on the same unit, it has severe trouble reading the information back (constant spin up, seeking, etc.) Should I send this unit away for service? I know sony has had an interesting track record with optics in other devices (most notibly, ps1 and ps2) but I've never had a problem with Sony before now. I would love to pick up a new MD portable, but I don't have a lot of money to throw around; as well, to get the same functionality as I have in this unit (mic in and line in), I would have to spend some $$. I've looked on ebay etc for pricing, but I do not want to buy from there, since I want a good reputable shop that will guarantee me a unit is new. So anyone have any thoughts? If I can manage to get my recorder fixed, then I would really love to get any ideas about #1. Thanks!
skyther
FB2k was designed for complete gapless playback, hence you get that problem. The split second gap that Winamp creates causes the Xitel to pause the transfer for that moment, and that's what lets the MDR recognise a track mark. You've really got no other choice with FB2k other than the insert gap plugin.
Bananatree
Check to see if there is a option/plug-in to turn the audio out off. If even for a split second, it should Tmark.
skyther
!! The "insert pause between tracks" plugin has been removed from .8.2! Or maybe I didn't install it Strange. When this plugin is used, foobar will stop it's output, but there's nothing stopping Windows kMixer/DirectSound from sending an output signal. I think this has much more to do with a driver/control issue than with the application.
