typical eh. left it in my jacket pocket on a settee, and someones obviously jumped on it and smashed my remote. so basically, need to know ....

1. how much sony would charge for a new one (in UK)

2. how much a better store in the uk would charge

3. if its worth getting a different remote instead

to say im a bit peeved off is an understatement, cos i know nobody will own up so it'll be out of my pocket sad.gif

cheers for any help, sorry if this is in the wrong forum

I know one e-tailer that carries a remote that would be right up your alley:

Backlit, of course. A little pricey but definitely worth it; I used to employ this remote when I had a MZ-R700. I'm not too terribly familiar with locating such accessories in the UK, so I'll send notify our UK-based moderators and see what they have to say.

I've only seen them in Hi-Fi Surplus (now Accessories) on Tottenham Court Road in London. They cost about £15 (non LCD), £30 (LCD, non backlit) and £45 (LCD, backlit). Sorry, don't know the serial nos.

I guess Sony Centres would have them too, but no idea how much, somewhat more I'd presume...

thanks for the posts guys, appreciate it. that remote looks nice, similar enough to the original one and the uber bonus of the backlight. there's a sony centre here so i'll sniff around and see how much they want, but i read on an ebay description (not really gospel mind heh) that sony charge 59.99 for the replacement for my one :/

its not worth getting a 2line remote over a 1line then? or will that not work on the 710?

hopefully im up in london in a few weeks to visit a friend, so tottenham court road will defo be on the list of tourist attractions for me anyway biggrin.gif
