Androidus
I have the cheapo MD player (that black one with NO options...). I usually wear it at work, but now they don't really want us wearing headphones while we work. Perfectly understandable in my opinion...Anyways, I was going to bring a boombox to play cd with, but since I have all of these MD's I was wondering if there is a boombox that has an MD slot to play the minidiscs... I had considered getting a boombox with a line-in but since I have el cheapo MD player/recorder, I don't know how using the headphone jack as a line-out will sound...From what I understand, it might sound like crap... Any feedback?
Christopher
Depends, really. MD boomboxes in the US are quite rare, although that wasn't the case months ago when Sharp liquidated a bunch of nice bookshelf systems for a really low price. A dedicated boombox, though? There are a few here: http://www.audiocubes.com/index.php?cPath=54_67 and here: http://www.audiocubes.com/index.php?cPath=54_59 Granted, those cost an arm and a leg.. What's your budget, anyways? p.s. Try your luck on eBay, too.

Any feedback? It should sound fine - at least, it sounds decent (if not great) driving my stereo off a Sony NE410, and a boombox in your office won't be as demanding at a stereo system. If you're really feeling cheap about it, a headphone->cassette unit (like people use to play CDs in cars which only have a cassette deck) should work with the boombox you already own. Androidus
I think I am going to go with a standard portable with a line-in...It may be more worth it in the long especially since it is for the work environment...Hell maybe I can find one that also supports mp3 playback! BJ
In the meantime, you could always pick up a pair of amplified speakers to plug into your portable. That's what my girlfriend and I always take camping, anyway. Handy!
