madly
i just got a new windows xp media center 2004 edition computer, on which i tried to install sonic stage 1.5 and 2.0. neither have worked; they terminate at the end of installation. i have also tried simple burner 1.5 (i think) and 2.0, both will install, but when i try to access them i get a message to reboot my computer and reinstall. sonic stage 1.5 ran on my old computer, but, for some reason, nothing will work on my new computer. i was wondering if anyone could help me with my problem, please!!(windows me)
Christopher
Hi, and welcome to the forums. Windows ME is a finnicky mistress, and may be the root of your woes. Nonetheless, please follow the exact uninstall directions in the NetMD faq and then install Sonicstage 2 only. Also, if there is any sort of error message, please report it. You may want to try the full version of Sonicstage 2, as iceeedtea's build [which I assume you're using] is "lite" and doesn't feature some things that are necessary for the program to run. p.s. Moving this to the NetMD forum..
madly
thank you for your help before. i did everything, but the same message came up when i tried to install sonic stage 2.0. here it is: Severe: The installation process has been terminated. it says the same thing in the sonic stage window, so all i can do is click done. Navillus
Madly, your note is a little confusing you mention Windows XP Media Center 2004 but at the end mention Windows ME. What is your operating system? I would assume it’s Windows XP and not Windows ME. My other question is how are you trying to install Sonic Stage, is this from the Connect web site or do you have original discs? It’s possible with trying to install the different versions that you may have a problem. Have you tried uninstalling? If not then follow the instructions in this thread http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4767 Then install SonicStage 2.0 from one of the Connect web sites. The speed here will depend on what way you do this.
madly
thank you for your help. my message was confusing; there was a typo. to clarify, my old computer was a windows me on which sonic stage, open mg, and simple burner worked perfectly. i have tried uninstalling every sony file on my computer and reinstalling with my old disc of sonic stage and with the new version several times. nothing has worked. i have no clue what's wrong. Navillus
Sorry I am still confused. Do you have two PC's one with Win. XP, and one with Win. ME? I don't know Win. ME as I have never used it, but if you are trying to install to a NEW PC with XP then I don't see why you would have any problems.

Navillus
Madly, The “penny dropped”, I did not realise that “Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004” (XP MC 2004) is another version of Windows XP. I believe that this maybe the reason for your problem. As I read it, for SS2.0, the only supported Windows XP operating systems are Professional and Home Edition. Having said that I also read that XP MC 2004 is a superset of Windows XP Professional! Create a new post asking if anyone has SS2.0 running with Windows XP Media Center. It does seem strange that an operating system that is designed for digital entertainment will not let you run SS2.0. I would suggest that you try contacting Sony support site. Sorry that I cannot offer more positive help.
