slowjoe
Hey, I have a problem with my Sharp minidisc player (MD-MT88) and could use some advice... You see when i record off for instance a cd all is ok, as in the volume can get high enough (not as high as on a discman, but still ok). But when I record songs off my computer they are recorded in an annoyingly low, sometimes even unhearable volume. I have checked all the volumes on my computer to be at their highest, on winamp as well as the main volume setting. Anyone know how I can fix this? Would be really cool. Thanks, Joe
squaredcircle
Do you have the same problem when you plug headphones into the computer? Whatever is coming out should go into the MD. Make sure the only thing coming through the main volume control and out the soundcard is what you want to hear: Wave, CD Audio, whatever. (But uncheck MIDI, Line In, etc.) Are you recording through Line In or Mic In? Mic In should boost the volume. And you mentioned computer volume controls, but the Sharp also has a record-level control. Maybe that just needs to be raised.
slowjoe
Hey, yeah I do use line in, so I'll definately try it with mic in.. I never use headphones but I just checked it out and yeah it isn't very loud. It comes through fine its just the volume.. But you say the Sharp has a record-level control? That would make sense.. but dyou know where it is/how I can change it? I'll look for it anyway.. Thanks alot
KJ_Palmer
Yes use the line in rec-level control, I really wouldn't use the mic-in to record as you will seriously risk overloading (and damaging) your MD. The recording level on Sharps is usually the same as the forward/back (<< >>) controls, this operates at the same time as you're recording. Just make sure the loudest part of your recordings reach but don't go above 0db and they should sound as loud as any CD discman...
