minidisco
From the knowledge of any of you here, can you tell me if the Digital Tuning Remote Control of the Sony MZ-NHF800 will work fine on the Sony MZ-NH1, without skipping any of the feature of the Sony MZ-NH1 and still have access to the radio? I would like to buy the Sony MZ-NH1 and want the radio tuning capability of the MZ NHF800 remote? Thanks for your inputs.
KJ_Palmer
I don't think so, the tuner remotes in the past have all been "exclusive" to that particular model (or at least a radio-enabled unit - eg. the G750/G755 paradigm). But of course I'd love to be proved wrong!....
Damage
Unlikely, the Radio Tuner remotes usually work only for Radio tuner models. The plug for the tuner remote vs. non tuner remote is physically different (to supply the necessary power to the tuner remote), and thus they are incompatible with other models. minidisco
Thank you all for the replies. I really appreciate it. Another question...Just need some help to make a good purchase... Comparing the Sony MZ-NH1 to the Sony MZ-NHF800 (regardless fo the body) the MZ NH1 has all the feature of the NHF800 plus the followings: Full Magnesium Body Ultra Compact Design 3 Line Backlit LCD Remote with Vertical Jog Dial Editing Functions USB Cradle for Easy PC Connection and Charging Digital pitch control (allows playback speed change without pitch change) Date-time stamp Removeable LiIon Rechargeable battery (LIP-4WM) Once again from your knowledge ( I have a limited one  ) are those features critical ones or simple luxury that can be overlooked? Thank you.
Damage
Depends. For most people, a lot of the features in the NH1 is a luxury they can live without (such as the cradle and the li-ion battery). For the most part, you're paying for the form factor--there's a reason why the small, thin CD players costs double the regular CD players. It's basically the same idea. The DPC seems quite handy for audio books, language learning, and trying to understand lyrics for some of thoe really fast songs. D-T stamp becomes handy when you're trying to sort out 1 GB of recording. The 3-line remote seems like a must with the HiMD units (though you can get by with the RM-MC33EL like I have been with my NH600). The most critical of the NH1 and the NH900 is the HD Digital amp, which gives really great playback according to ancedotal evidence. Keep in mind that NH900 costs $100 less and comes with a AA battery pack while NH1 doesn't. That makes NH900 a bigger winner in most ppl's eyes than NH1. Then there is the fact that you're going to be a proud owner of the flagship HiMD unit. Ego inflating to be sure. But I'd rather have one of those than the Qualia MD... Well... To a point. Or, once you go cradle with your electronics, you will never wanna go back to non-cradle electronics. It just is.
