justify73
Hello everyone. I just purchased my first MD player (a NF610) and am quickly falling in love with it. This thing kicks major ass. I am, however, having a few issues. My main issue is that I don't know the best way to transfer my music to the player. I find the SonicStage 1.5 software to be really un-intuitive. This is what I want to do: I have about 500 CDs that I want to transfer to the MD. However, I don't want to put the entire CD on the MD. Rather, I have a few select songs from each CD that I'd like to put on there. I'm not concerned with song quality, in that I find the LP4 compression to be just fine for my needs. I've just yet to find a suitable (read: quick and easy) way to do this. I tried the Quick Burner, but that copied the whole CD over and I didn't want to do that. By the way, I have a big old blank 80 GB hard drive that I could install if doing this the right way would require copying the tracks from the CD into the Sony format. I appreciate any advice you all could give. I'm not familiar with EVERY option out there, so if you could find the time to share, I'd really appreciate it. Sorry if this is an obvious question. Just point me in the right direction and I'll be fine! Thanks again, Matt
doclloyd
Hello there! First thing to do is upgrade your software to SonicStage 2.0 and Simpleburner 2.0, available here -- http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4767 (hope you have a high-speed connection) Next thing is determining how you want to handle your music. It is possible to use SimpleBurner and only copy some tracks off a CD and not the whole thing, so that may work well for you. The selection screen doesn't show up automatically. There's a button in the middle underneath the "record" button to show tracks. However, if you're looking to makes lots of compilations and such, then ripping everything within SonicStage first might be your best bet. Let us know if you need more help. Glad you're enjoying your MD!

Maybe it's just me, but it's the most unintuitive piece of crap software I've ever tried to use. It keeps prompting me to register with Gracenote, then when I say "yes' it does nothing. I can't figure out how to just highlight a track and convert it to the MD format and store it on my hard drive. I didn't think I was asking for much. Ugh. Is this the ONLY software available for the MD player?
justify73
Never mind... looks like I got it figured out for the most part. This software is REALLY designed poorly though. It's too slick looking and not intuitive enough. My opinion, of course.
