doclloyd
Hello, I just recently purchased a mic for my MD (the one listed in the subject, found here.. http://www.minidisco.com/sp-spsm1.html). I've only played with recording quickly here at the office and noticed a little bit of motor noise being recorded through the mic. I'm using a N10 portable. Are there any tips for reducing this noise? Get an extension to keep the mic further away from the portable itself? Reducing sensitivity? Tips are welcome and appreciated. A440
You've mentioned the best two options--a longer cord and lower sensitivity. You definitely do not want to plug directly into the MD. A third possibility is to make sure the MD is on something soft--a mousepad, a piece of cloth--so that a table or desk isn't amplifying the vibrations. But an extension cord is definitely your first tactic.
