Syco54645
yes i am about to buy a new md player/recorder. i have found a nice deal on a sony MZN420D, but i cant find a manual for it or a review anywhere. if anyone knows anything about this unit please let me know thanks -Syco54645 edit1 some sites liet it to have mic/input others dont also i am looking at the Sony Psych Net MD Walkman Digital Music Player - Orange the other one (blue appears to be a little different in the features, at least i think so) edit2 ok so that site lied about the mzn420d. i was looking at this one MZ-N510CK. i was reading the specs from this site, so how would this one perform. i am fixing to record a concert in august (shopping early so it isnt a last minute thing) thanks -Syco54645
Christopher
http://minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-N420D.html is the place for more information on the N420D. I definitely think that it's not the unit for you. A mic recording unit, eh? What kind of microphone do you have? I would suggest you may want to get the Sony MZ-NF610 instead..but let me ask you this, what is your maximum budget?
Syco54645
i am looking at a cardioid mic from sound professionals with a power unit for the mic (one that lets me adjust the record levels since that is "impossible" to do on the sony whilst recording. the mics that i want leave my budget on a md recorder at about $100. i have found a nice deal on brand new mz-n510ck units. and this website says that the nf610 r just a modified 510 that has am/fm radio. i hate the radio so that isnt needed lol. also mic in isnt used, at least that is what i understand. everyone said that the line in is a better choice. thanks for the fast reply -Syco54645
Christopher
Didn't know if you were aware of the whole microphone biz, but it seems like you know what you want. I made the NF610 recommendation because I wasn't aware of your knowledge in the field [as that unit has a mic-in].. Anyway, the 510 would probably suite you well, but don't be a stranger to eBay - great deals on last generation's MD units [and etc] are popping up everyday. Welcome to the forums, btw!
Syco54645
ya i have an idea of the mics that i want. if the 510 is good enuf for what i want to do, i will just go and get that. i can get a brand new one on ebay for $85 buy it now and slightly less if i just bid on it. also am i correct that i dont need a mic in (everyone told me to use line in as i can adjust the record levels on that one, even tho i am getting a box). please let me know about this. thanks for the welcome -Syco54645
Christopher
I'm not really sure about that, but if you read well enough over the threads in this forum [Live Recording], you'll probably find everything you need to know.
