Hey guys. At this stage, I'm extremely worried, that something terrible has happened to my unit, and it's going to cost me craploads to repair...

Normally, when ya plug it into the computer, weather it's on battery or DC power, it comes up with 'PC>MD' on the screen, right?

Anyway, I was making some new discs, then sonicstage suddenly infored me that there was no device connected. I pulled out the USB cable, and plugged it back in. Windows gave me an error saying 'new hardware wasn't installed correctly, it may not work'. So, i paniked.

I tried unplugging and plugging in the cable again, this time, nothing. On the md's screen it flashed up 'PC>MD' for about less than a second.

I thought - ok, computer problem. No worries. So, I reformatted the computer, thinking that it'd help, everything would be refreshed, I could install the drivers from scratch.

Well, that didn't help. If the unit just has its battery in and you plug in the USB, nothing happens at all, either on the MD's screen, or the computer. If the MD is running off DC power, and I plug the USB cable in, it says 'PC>MD' for about less than a second, and does nothing.

I'm freaking out now. This has never happened before. You know - it's worked, for the year i've had it, without ANY problems at all. Now this.

Everything else works fine, i can still record in normal mode, playback, all the other functions work.

Oh and I should probably mention that I had the same problem on another PC when i tried connecting it to that.

So. Does anyone know what is going on, how I can fix it. Or is my MD completely buggered up beyond my own repair, and I have to take it to sony?

Thanks heaps in advance!
