MiniDisc TO PC - Tweaking/hacking techniques?

Hello, I am new to this list, so please forgive if this question appeared here before: are there any tweaking or hacking techniques that would allow transfer of MICROPHONE-RECORDED contents of my MD to a PC (possibly in the mp3 format or wav, or any other easily recognisable that can be eventually burned on a CD-R as a regular compact disc)? I mean NOT the usual stuff (which sucks) of routing my MD to my computer via a regular audio cable connecting it to the MD's earphone plug on the one end and the PC's sound card on the other end. I've been through this; in fact, I don't even have a decent sound card and make all my connections via my PC's USB port and Xitel I/O but that still requires Xitel to be connected with the earphone plug via a normal, analogue audio cable.

What I mean is: is there any way of transferring sound recorded with a microphone (or from a radio or streaming audio etc) DIGITALLY onto a computer? My MD is Sony MZ-N710. Any clue will be greatly appreciated.

Well, since this has been answered before, I'll keep this short.

From what I have seen from various OpenSource projects, it looks like that NetMD recorders don't have the hardware provision to transfer the sounddata back to the PC.

Solution:

1.) Get a home deck with Digital out and if not present, a soundcard with digital in. Then record realtime onto the PC.

2.) Get a Hi-MD recorder. Anything recorded with that one can be uploaded via USB.
