u2o
Hi all, first post here and glad to come across from google search. I'm looking for a new netMD player, my N707 gave up on me completely after 3 out of 4 screws holding the front panel disappeared, warranty didnt cover and now its eqpired. Front panel is really loose, and my earphone plug bit is now mysteriously damaged, i have to keep pressure on it to get the sound out from both ears. So after a short life of 1 year 6 months its time for a change unfortunately. Shame coz i quite liked this MD player. I looked at N710, but I heard about some low power of sound? Whats that like compared to my 707? I have a low budget of approx. £130, N710 could be purchased at this cost. But im goin to Japan next week, i looked at their prices and N10 is sold for approx. £150 (i could stretch my budget to this if its REALLY worth it). I shall also visit Tottenham Court Road, London next friday. Any bargains to be had there that might be useful? So what are my best chances? Thanks all. u2o
KJ_Palmer
Hi. Yes, I'd avoid the N710 if I were you, at least if bought in this country. The Japanese one would be a fine replacement for your N707 though, if you can wait till you're there. There are several places on Tottenham Court Road that sell the Sharp IM-DR420, eg. Gultronics. I'd highly recommend this nifty recorder - it's not pretty but more than makes up for that in features, and would be even louder than your N707. There are other variants of the DR420 - eg. the DR410 which is the same but has no mic input, or the DR370 which also is non-NetMD.
u2o
Thanks KJ, I'll definately consider that SHARP DR420 as well in that case. I'm not quite sure about the remote though, I want a display on my one. I had a SHARP md ages ago, and that lasted a good chunk of years so i'll definately think they're reliable. I shall avoid 710 in this country, I looked at japanese store websites and couldnt find 710 on their list but I may just go for N10.
