Tchocky
Here is the story: I got my MZ-NF810 in December, I used it and loved it until 2 months ago I had it damaged. The casing was bent and the internal alignment was off, It now made alot of operation noise and it shaked pretty violently compared to what it usually made. I felt it could be fixed (new case, new innards) and I took it to the local repair shop Sony had given the address to. That was no problem. 2 months later (Long time?) I got it back and as expected the front panel was replaced along with some structual parts (The part that guides the disc when you insert it) It played fine. And I did'nt think to check anything else. (silly me) I first noticed something was wrong when I used it in my car It suddenly stopped and turned off when I picked it up. Then I tried to record something with my mic and the TOC edit took longer than it ever had and it made substantial noise. I tried recording using the pc connection and had similar problems. Should a TOC edit last more than 3 minutes, stop and then go for another 2 minutes? I never had a TOC edit last this long. Please help me tape The Pixies in November EDIT: also the "antiskip" seems to be nonexistant in some situations. (Car event)
BJ
If it hasn't been very long, I'd say take it right back to the repair shop and complain. They'll probably just blame you for something, though. It sounds like something is still loose inside the machine (as far as it turning off). See if it does this when it's plugged in. As far as the TOC taking a total of 5 minutes, that's ridiculous. A TOC update should take only 5 seconds or so. There may be a problem with the laser block (if it's misaligned, that might explain the lack of AntiShock and the TOC update). If that repair shop won't co-operate with you, I'd say send your machine somewhere else. Good luck!
