Sijray21
Ok here it goes... I just bought my hi-md player yesterday. I found out, hey! cool i get 5 free downloads. I proceed to download the files for free. I put them on my hi-md player and enjoy the music as i go to work. Now i want to listen to them in my car. Now correct me if i'm wrong, but the files downloaded are openMG audio files that can't be 'touched' because they're protected? Why can't i burn them like regular mp3 files. Note i didn't 'pay' for them, but i did recieve a coupon for me to 'buy' them for $0. There should be a way for me to move my music into a medium for me to write them on a cd at no extra cost. How do i do this? I was also able to move them out of the application folder that was hidden from my explorer and into a folder that i had access to without sonicstage. Thanks for the time. On another note i also read that my 'environment' that sony requires me to have (a sony vaio computer) has the only method for me to burn an audio cd...is this true? if so, that's just not right... How do i do this? These are encrypted and bound to the installation of SonicStage, you are using now. I was also able to move them out of the application folder that was hidden from my explorer and into a folder that i had access to without sonicstage. Thanks for the time.Move them back in and leave them in there, otherwise you lose them. To back them up, select the backup function from the tools menu and export them into a directory of your choice. You can write this backup onto a cd-rom to have it on a safe place. After a reinstall, you can reimport from that backup. There is no other way to save the downloaded music. That the downloads were free doesn't matter. On another note i also read that my 'environment' that sony requires me to have (a sony vaio computer) has the only method for me to burn an audio cd...is this true? if so, that's just not right...Currently it looks like that, the problem is that there are about 2000 different CD-writers out there and almost everyone of them has a different command set and protocol, so Sony decided to support, what they know of. And that is their own range and the stuff ending up in their VAIO-systems. SS2.1 will come soon, it may change the situation, but we don't know, until it's out. Alternative way: Start a wave-editor, select 'Wave out' as recording input on the soundcard's mixer panel, set Wave-out to 100%, start recording in the wave-editor (44.1 kHz/16bit) then start playback in SonicStage. Of course, switch off any effects/EQ the soundcard provides. After recording, remove any silence at the beginning and end of the recorded track and save. Do that for each track, then burn an audio cd from that with your regular CD-Software. I know, it is cumbersome, but it always works. doclloyd
I'm not sure what version of SS2 you downloaded, but I'm on Windows 2000 Pro here and grabbed the "Beta" version and I've been able to burn CD's without a problem (well, mostly. Separate thread to come.) I have a home-built box with a Sony CD-burner (maybe that's why it works fine ). Most downloads via COnnect allow 5 audio CD burns + 5 ATRAC CD burns. Unlimited MD/portable device transfers. Some are more limited, but I haven't downloaded any of those yet.
jadeclaw
It's the Sony CD-Writer, I guess.
