avil
I want to buy a new md with a mic for recording myself playung things, and recording live concerts. I have few questions: a. What's the differnce between the nhf800 and the nh900? what's digital amp and digital pitch? which other important differnces are between these two? b. Which mic should I buy? my price range is 50-75$ c. Can I upload things that were recorded with old minidiscs to my computer with the new HI-MD minidiscs? jadeclaw
1. Welcome to the forum. a: NHF800 has a radio in the remote. NH900 has a Gumstick-style NiMH-battery and therefore not the bulge on the backside, home-deck-style editing with rehearsal on divide, allowing to shift trackmarks in fine increments with the jog-dial, with the NHF800 setting trackmarks is trial and error... The digital amp improves the soundquality on playback, compared to the low voltage analog amps used in the cheaper models. Digital pitch allows to play audio faster than real-time without changing the pitch itself. c: No, not via USB. You have to go the old route through the soundcard with these. Manuals for all Hi-MD units can be downloaded here: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Hi-MD_Sony.html b: I suggest to look through the messages here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewforum.php?f=18 A wide choice of microphones is available here: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/
Ppk3000
NH900 has a LiIon-battery and therefore...I am not completely certain but I'm somewhat sure the NH900 supports the gumstick NiMH rechargeable, not Li-Ion.
jadeclaw
Well, that's easy to find out... *several mouseclicks later* Yes you're right, It's a NiMH-Gumstick. *corrects other post*
