u2o
Hi, I know NH3D is USB Bus Powered, and when connected it can be powered just by USB. My question is, can USB charge the unit as well? Also, is it possible that Sony will release AA battery case for this model?? Thanks.

skyther
Sorry, I'm just lazy. Chances are I was busy stuffing my mouth and typing with a single hand. But yes it's been answered before, the NH1/NH3D do not come with external AA packs, and the USB doesn't charge the Li-ion battery.
Qwakrz
There is no technical reason that the NH1 cant be charged from the USB port, I just think sony wants you to carry the charger around with you. When I get my NH1, one of the first things I will be doing (after filling it up with music) is to see if I can modify a cable to allow either USB to be used on the charging cradle (should be a simple matter of linking the pins up to a cable) or making the USB cable charge the unit. USB = 5v, PSU = 6v. Worst case is a small charge pump to increase USB voltage to 6v for charging. The problem will be if the charging electronics are built into the cradle and therfore not allow charging unless the base station is used. skyther
Um, what's a 'charge pump'? I've heard of transformers, but definately not a charge pump.
u2o
Sorry' date=' I'm just lazy. quote'] thats ok  anyway i guess i'll have to buy a Sony 100-240V charger or similar then, although doesnt matter too much. Unit: 36000YEN Store Points: worth 3600YEN <<- i like how some japanese retailers do this. Charger: 2800YEN which can be paid by the points i guess i'll add one HiMD disc as well, which can be paid for by the rest of the points. BTW, Yodobashi.com is doing NH1 for 36800Yen or something, i might look into them as well.
jadeclaw
Um, what's a 'charge pump'? I've heard of transformers, but definately not a charge pump.A charge pump works by charging a capacitor and then placing it in series between battery and output. That cycle is repeated a few 100000 times per second. This one from Maxim is a good example, what is possible: http://www.maxim-ic.com/appnotes.cfm/appno...ote_number/1021 Give it 2 D-Cells and you have a nice Lamp...
