Kenobi
I have a MZ-N510, and myPC doesn't recognise the player when connect it up with the USB cable. I'm not even getting a "PC>>MD" appear on the display. It's not a fault with the usb cable as it connects fine with my digital camera, and also I have another usb cable. The connection at the MD player seems to be a bit loose. Is everyone else's connection there a little loose too? (loose but doesn't come off). And does anyone know the problem? I've tried installing the Net MD drivers already. Help appreciated
jadeclaw
Sounds like a loose solder joint. Check under Controlpanel --> System --> Hardwaremanager, if the recorder appears among the other USB-Devices in the list. If not, the connector has to be resoldered to the circuit board, where it is on.
Kenobi
Resoldering? Is there instructions of how to open the MD player and do this? Is this something I can do myself?
jadeclaw
if you are an experienced or trained technician, then yes. But as you are asking, how to open this thing, I strongly suggest, that you return it to the shop for service. The innards are very fragile and an inexperienced person will ruin it only more...
