Well when I set my md player on the docking station it wont recognize and show "PC>>MD". However when i take it off of the docking station it says PC>>MD and does not allow me to do anything. In order for me to get it to play again is by cycling the power using the switch in the back. basically has anyone had this problem? This seems pretty bad. thanks please let me know.

This sounds like something related to the USB interface, not [just] the NetMD.

Do you have any other USB devices plugged in, or software that always runs for devices you only plug in occasionally? Examples would be scanners, tablets, printers, etc. that have their own management software that loads at startup.

ok so i did a clean install of win2000 and i cant upload, I checked my driver, it has that yellow exclamation point bubble and it recognizes the NetMD device, but under properties it says the device will not start. i have no other USB devices attached to my computer and I was able to upload a week ago before my computer had a weird crash.

Hmmm...

Analog this sounds similar to what happened to my N10 in April '03, I had to get mine fixed under warrenty, the system board was swapped. This was indeed the unit not the software. My symptoms were slightly different. My N10 would only say PC->MD when it connected to the USB port, but NOT the mains, but you couldn't transfer anything because the connection would drop (like a dial-up connection)if you tried. But often it wouldn't even do this.

The driver not loading in Windows in probably another manifestation of your units' fault, since the N10 isn't sending the correct information or any information at all across the USB interface when it's queried by Windows 2000.

The NetMD driver isn't especially problematic to install in my experience, furthermore it should say PC->MD on the unit whenever it's attached to a currently powered USB port even outside of an operating system.

I hope this helps.
