sfsherrill
I have a Sony MZ-R30. This weekend I was recording a lecture with a mic. Everything appeared to be normal during the recording. The recording light was on and all the correct indications were in the window. However, when I pressed the stop button after the lecture was over, the "Toc Edit" message did not appear as usual. Instead the window went blank. I pressed play to see what was on the disk and I got a "BLANK DISK" message. My question is this. Is there data on that disk even if the Toc Edit did not occur and can that data be recovered somehow?
jadeclaw
The whole data is on the disc, but since the battery gave way at the wrong moment, the TOC hasn't been written. But not all is lost, if you have access to a certain home deck. Everything about TOC-cloning can be found here: http://www.minidisc.org/cloning_procedure.html To prevent this in the future, clean the battery contacts and when the Li-Ion battery is old, replacing it might be advised, as they lose the ability to provide the current needed in that moment. You might want to use the supplied AA-case as well in parallel. PS: Don't ask me for doing the cloning procedure, my equipment is unsuitable for that.
