AM-NX1 Device Driver Error

My daughter wanted a md recorder/player that her friend has. It was the AM-NX1. When her friend came by with the unit and they tried to connect it to my Vaio (XP Pro), the device cannot be installed - "The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28)."

My Vaio already has SonicStage 1.5x, so I thought may be a later version would come with the correct driver. After installing SS2.0, it still won't work.

Each time after connecting the USB cable, the AM-NX1's display showed "PC>>MD" but won't work.

I tried the AM-NX1 on my Win98SE desktop PC and another XP Pro desktop PC, still no go.

Would appreciate any help.

Yes, I did. The info in the provided link indicated that the procedure to "re-install" is not for those with pre-installed OpenMG/SonicStage software, which my Vaio has.

As I am looking to buy one for my daughter, this is my first serious search on things MD and try as I may, I couldn't find information on how to overcome this problem with the AM-NX1. My Vaio is only a few months old, and the AM-NX1 was released more than a year ago. So it should be easy to just connect and use. But no, and hence now I really need help from the 'oldtimers' here.
