jacob88
My daughter wanted a md recorder/player that her friend has. It was the AM-NX1. When her friend came by with the unit and they tried to connect it to my Vaio (XP Pro), the device cannot be installed - "The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28)." My Vaio already has SonicStage 1.5x, so I thought may be a later version would come with the correct driver. After installing SS2.0, it still won't work. Each time after connecting the USB cable, the AM-NX1's display showed "PC>>MD" but won't work. I tried the AM-NX1 on my Win98SE desktop PC and another XP Pro desktop PC, still no go. Would appreciate any help.
Christopher
Welcome. Have you read the NetMD faq first? http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4171
jacob88
Yes, I did. The info in the provided link indicated that the procedure to "re-install" is not for those with pre-installed OpenMG/SonicStage software, which my Vaio has. As I am looking to buy one for my daughter, this is my first serious search on things MD and try as I may, I couldn't find information on how to overcome this problem with the AM-NX1. My Vaio is only a few months old, and the AM-NX1 was released more than a year ago. So it should be easy to just connect and use. But no, and hence now I really need help from the 'oldtimers' here. Christopher
Try uninstalling everything just via the control panel, then install your device driver only from the supplied cd and then install Sonicstage 2.1 from connect.com
jacob88
Thanks, Kurisu for your help. I found a driver (Personal Audio Driver) at: http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DNA/nmd/nmd.asp?l=en which, when I checked the .inf file, includes the AM-NX1. When I installed this, it works! Thanks again.
