EKorn
Hello, I have the following problem: I want to record MP3-Files from my PC (XP / Winamp) with my Minidisc (Sharp MS701H). The connection works fine and also sounds well. BUT: There is always a small input level on the MD-Player even if there's silence on the PC. There is nothing to hear on the MD, but it prevents the MD-Player from recognizing new tracks (auto mark), because there's never "real" silenece (even in fact there is silence). When I turn off the master volume in the XP volume control, then there's no signal on the MD (but this doesnt help much of course). Can anyone help please ??? Thanks... jadeclaw
Mute all inputs except Wave in the volume/mixer panel. In addition, go into preferences in Winamp, select 'Plugins' --> 'Output', select the 'DirectSound output', click on 'Configure', select the 'Device' tab, select your soundcard instead of 'Primary Sounddevice' from the topmost Dropdown-list. You might try out the checkboxes below that as well, especially the 'Create Primary Buffer' one. If all fails, then it is a hardware problem, most soundcards resample everything to 48kHz sample rate. And to cover up their crappy samplerate converters, dithering noise is mixed into the signal to cover resampling artefacts. And that noise triggers continuously the level detector in the MD recorder. Solution: A better Soundcard, that doesn't resample. The specs must specify 44.1kHz samplerate on digital out.
