dgates01
I use MD's for recording audio at weddings. One on the groom, one on the minister, one at the podium if needed. I love 'em. Maybe 1 out of 10 recordings will have a slight drift that needs to be altered to sync with the video. But usually, the sync is perfect. Of course the time-consuming aspect of real-time capture gets old. That's what my friends who use wireless mics always mention. Then there's those who are getting into the MP3 recorders. I've told them in the past, not to be so smug. The Hi-MD will fix the real-time capture issue. Now, the whole Sonic Stage non-conversion issue has nipped my excitement in the bud. I'm just glad I didn't waste my money by purchasing a unit or two already. It helped me reflect that the real-time capture I'm used to isn't really so bad. I still have to capture 6-10 hours worth or video per wedding, so what's another hour or two of MD audio?
Mat
First of all, if the boom faded now since the announcement boom, than it was definately a long boom. Now, as for your dislike for sonic stage, you should know that there are some rumors going about sony writing a sofware to convert .OMG (oh my god ? ) files that were recorded via MIC or analogue line-in to WAV. That should mke you satisfied.

skyther
Minidisco isn't a Sony rep, they're merely quoting what they've heard. On the other hand, Sony has made a gazillion promises with Hi-MD and only a handful of them have come true. I wouldn't hold my breath and call it a 'fact' just yet, it's a lot wiser to just play 'wait and see' since Sony has a reputation for crying wolf.
