Alot of these questions have been answered before, but I'll go ahead and answer them for you. I suggest you may want to refer to minidisc.org's hi-md faq and also various topics on this forum [via search].

You cannot play mp3 tracks on this unit without converting them to ATRAC3/plus first via Sonicstage, or the usual recording process via the digital in and analog/mic in on the unit [if it has such]. Copying data is another story, as it is read as a "mass storage device" and you can do simple drag n' drop operations.

The music conversion process is pretty easy and doesn't take too long compared to the days of the old. Welcome to the forums, too. :happy:
