sp1200
I emailed sony twice asking if Hi-MD supports ID3 tags, both responses i recieved stated that no model supports ID3, yet their website still lists all models as having ID3 support in the comparison chart... whats the deal? the comparison chart can be viewed at sonystyle.ca
skyther
Hi-MD doesn't support ID3. It doesn't support MP3. It doesn't support AAC. It only supports ATRAC, ATRAC3 and ATRAC3+. Sonicstage (the crap that comes with it) will support MP3 and transcode it into ATRAC3+ for you.
doclloyd
The Hi-MD supports transfer of more data to a Hi-MD formatted disc. It now transfers Artist, Source (or Album I suppose) along with title. Maybe this is what the service rep confused ID3 with. I haven't paid much attention yet, but it could be that imported mp3's with ID3 info have some of this mapped to fields in ATRAC3/+ files.
