jmg
I received my MZ-NH700 yesterday and tried it this morning. I noticed a strange thing: When I record from a CD using analog cables, the tracks are cut exactly like on the CD. Yet, as far as I can see, the user manual says that SyncRec is possible only with an optical cable. Very strange...
KJ_Palmer
Hi. Sony MD recorders do in fact sync rec in analogue, as long as they can detect a long enough period of 'silence', ie 2 or 3 seconds below about -90dB (I think). For digital transfers, track marks are sent explicitly with the signal, which is what the sync-rec function uses to add track marks on the recording.
