blkmage
Since there is no known way to transfer using NetMD in Linux, I've resorted to attempting it with VMware. The results are extremely poor. It took at least 8 hours to convert one album and transfer it to the MD. From what I can tell, it seems like converting from MP3 to OMG is the reason. I think that the actual transfer is about the same. My question is if anyone has been able to reduce the time it takes to convert, or why it seems to take so long? I know that it's a virtual machine and all, but there must be some way to make it process faster... Have other people tried this? Has it worked? What have you found? Christopher
I answered this already in another forum [t-board]. Damn you, I'm just going to send you my Xitel DG2. Can you send me money to cover the shipping charge?
kakunou
I can transfer in much less time than the OP is reporting. Use a non-vanilla custom 2.6.x and compile USB/SCSI into the kernel. And strip your Windows installation in VMWare to a bare minimum using something like nLite to butcher a new ISO for you from your source install, or do it by hand. Kill unnecessary processes and services.
Christopher
Interesting. How long does it take you, kakunou?
