Analog recording to a Nf-610 type S

Hey all,

I'm still learning how to use my unit.

I would like to record off of CD and Cassettes into my MD. Could anyone clarify if the "Line In (optical)" Port required purely optical, or can a simple male to male mini jack be used. I'm in Canada so accessories (like the proper analoge to optical cable) are in Short supply.

Also are there any Shelf systems available in Canada that people know of?

And One last thing. Why can't I upload songs from this machine to the same computer that they were loaded from. I select the song and a press the transfer button, it the says that it is unable to transfer the file. I'm using ss2.1 and I know that this disc was made on this machine with this software.

Please help a newb.

Thanks for any info

Welcome to the forums.

The optical port is indeed purely optical. Male to male mini jack connections can only be made with a mic-in connection.

An analog to digital cable is easily available online, perhaps you should scout some websites and see what you pull up.

Shelf systems? What's your maximum budget?

You can't upload because you're using a NetMD unit. This functionality is only available with Hi-MD units.

I took a close look at the manual and from the wording I got the impression that it may actually be both, plus looking down the port I can see the optical as well I belive I see contacts for a regular mini jack, I'll have to test and find out.

I would prefer just a mini bookshelf system, for not too much money. I say one briefly that seemed I deal, but it has since dissappeared.

As far as the recording goes. It turns out that I did infact record from another machine ( actually the same but before a wipe and fresh install - inessence a different comp.)

I belive I'm fully cleared up now Thanks for the tips though

Chris, what are you talking about? blink.gif

The Optical/Line-in port on MD recorders is a combination optical input and line input. You can run a normal stereo miniplug into it.

It even illustrates doing just that in the MD manuals.
