  1. All of these suggestions sounds good. I'll have to do some shopping to find those. I'm stuck with MDR-G52 headphones (Sony/lowlevel), which gives a better sound than the earphones included with the NH-900. Thank you all for your help.
  2. I live in Quebec City and Minidisc Canada is located in Montreal... 250km southwest from here. 2 days is standard to get a package from Montreal.
  3. Just got my NH-900 from Minidisc Canada this morning! It just look great. I can't wait to try it out and see how it goes. If they shipped on friday, it took two days to get here, so it should not be long for everyone else.
  4. Seems like Minidisc Canada got the player at last! Even though it says it is out of stock right now... Anyone got the confirmation for theirs??
  5. Also ordered my NH900 from minidisc-Canada and no news yet. I sure hope they show up soon... I just can't wait!
  6. Thanks for your reply Oluv, I have heard of the Porta Pro but wasn't able to find it. Is there an e-tailer that sells them (Didn't see them on Audiocubes)? An open headphone would not be practical since I am going to use those mostly in the bus. I like a roomy sound with some nice bass (no need for bassheavy, just a deep, warm bass). I listen mostly to alternative/rock so... I'll check out your suggestions. I am not fond of the earplugs design since I think they feel uncomfortable. I am more of a headphone/clip-on earphone kind.
  7. Don't know if could be your problem PDOG, but I had the same error you are experiencing. The reason why you are getting that error is probably because your Windows installer is disabled in the services. Go to Start/Run/services. Scroll down and click on windows installer. If is it disabled, put it on automatic. If you have succeeded to have the manual files, it will work like a charm. Hope it helps!
  8. I sure hope it means it will come out indeed on the 10th. I can't wait to get my hands on my NH-900... Now, if only I can find a place that sells Hi-MD blanks in Canada... :whatever:
  9. I am looking for new ear/headphones for my NH-900 (when it wil arrive at last!) and would like to have some advice on what would be the best for that player. I am not very keen for earbuds but would much prefer ear-fitting earphones or small headphones. I'll be using my NH-900 mostly in a noisy environement (mainly in the public bus, while going to work) and would like something that provides a good all-around sounds. I've seen some nice reviews on the PX 200 (Seenheiser) and wondered if those were good? I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 570 at home (they were 200$ Cdn when I bought them) and I like the sound of those. Also tried some Grado headphones, but the sound was not what I was looking for. Thanks in adavnce.
  10. Ok... just ordered a NH-900 and hopefully it'll show up soon! Thank you all for your help. I'll let you know what I think of it as soon as I get it. Btw, just curious... any plans for other companies than Sony to support the Hi-MD format such as Sharp (with their Auvi line)?
  11. Thought I saw that on the forum somewhere... could be wrong though All I really want to do is to be able to record music and listen to music while i'm on the bus to get to work. The technical thing seems very interesting but I don't know much about audio tech. Just want to be able to enjoy some music. The fact you can also have a 1Gb drive you can bring with you was a definite bonus. I mostly listen to CDs and Mp3s (of the 192 and 256 variety) so I just wanted to make sure MDs were in the same range. Now, I wonder how it will sound with my Sennheiser HD 570...
  12. I did think about the 900 too. I wasn't too sure about it since it will be my first MD player and thought a lower-end player would be good for a first time. The only thing is that the only place in Canada I could find was Minidisc Canada & they say it is still in pre-order. Any online stores that ships in Canada that has them? (In Canada if possible. I know that Customs can really be a killer when it comes to customs taxes and all). The other issue I have with the 900 (from what I've read) seems to be about the digital amp. Is it really that bad or will the untrained ear won't be able to see the difference?
  13. Thank you for your advice. I will definitly look into it. The versatility of the recorder is what really got me into buying one. I'll use it mostly to listen to music but the fact it can do more is nice. Dunno yet if I'll go for the 700 or 800... don't really need the FM tuner and not sure if the VPT will make much of a difference
  14. Hi everyone (first post here), I was planning to buy an NHF-800 since I have heard a lot of great things about the Hi-MD format. I've never owned an MD player before but did some research and thought it would be an interesting format. From what I read in this forum, there seems to be some concern over sound quality. How would someone feel about the sound of the Hi-MD compared to a CD player? Would you notice that much of a difference? over MP3s (usually around 192)? I am still hesitating between an Hi-MD player and an MP3 digital player. Thanks for your help.
