Hee great! I got myself a PRS300 this week. Great machine! Beautiful screen and real Sony build quality, with a metal front. Edit: "Sony has requested we remove these service manuals, but with the PRS-700 mysteriously disappearing from the SonyStyle store, its fair to say something is afoot."
-
Good point, x2 (except I'm on my forth Walkman).
-
This is interesting; a higher then normal resolution, hopefully Sony build quality, a reasonable price (if it is still reasonable once it comes to Europe). I might pick one up later this year.

Welcome Pinkblondi (this is a weird name to type), we probably all have that in one way or another. Computers are addictive like hell. The best you can do IMO is make plans how to fill you free time in a pleasant way and stick to those plans. Nothing against planning some time with your laptop every now and then of course, just not too much.
-
Nope, sorry. You can go directly from the now playing screen to the list of cover art of all albums on the DAP, but that's it.
-
I you mean shuffle all songs on all albums, yes that is possible ; simply set it to shuffle and select 'all songs' and select a song to start with. Can also be done inside a genre, or an artist.
-
That does it, I'm getting one as soon as they appear in the shops here. Hey Julie, what happend to your IR8's?
-
Exactly the same for me (except that I knew some LC-records from long ago). I was never really a fan, and picked up the CD a month ago just because I wanted to buy something. After listening through it for the first time, I was completely floored; I immediately ordered the concert-DVD, and ever since then I keep on listening to the CD, saw the -long- DVD over 5 times, and it has been on my DAP almost constantly. One of the few conceerts I really regret having missed, but that'll be rectified soon .

Shall we tell him? aargh, it goes on, everyone has one except for us: http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/04/sony-ol...x1050-hands-on/

Great, enough signals to convince me that is is actually coming in May; I'll buy one right away. I have a question: at the moment, I enjoy my A808, with ATRAC. Going to this X1000 that means I'll have to rerip, and I think I'll start this week. 32 GB is more then enough for the music I want on it. So I want to use the best lossy codec. But what is it? MP3 at 320kbs CBR, or VBR or something else? I could use some advice from people that already use the SOny nonATRAC-DAPs please. As Juli pointed out somewhere, there is also room for a few uncompressed WAV/PCM albums (hey Juli, want to guess what double album will doubtlessly be uncompressed on my player? )

Uhh, their forumlist starts like this: Forums Topics Posts Support Share experiences and help each other. 28,555 179,891 OTOH, it suddenly is http://en.forums.wordpress.com/ and Sony is not mentioned anywhere.
-
According to Engadget it is coming to Japan 25-4. Price there: about $400,- for 16 GB, $500,- for the 32 GB. http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=a...04%2F09-0414%2F

Not the easiest to read, but a lot more regular then my southpawn runes.

Play.com now mentions 30/4 as expected delivery date....
-
For me it is primarily a music player, living in my pocket. Value to me is sound quality, build quality, memory size and batterylife. Couldn't care less about other things, like wireless, touchscreen, the possibility to watch video (got a tv, monitor and netbook for that) etc.
-
A|ll things will come to she who waits.....hahaha, another description of that indescribable horrible word. PATIENCE! Clearly, there is a shipload of the things on the way to Europe from the manifacturing plants in Far East through some distribution point, communications between Sony HQ, the factory, various invalved logistic departments (don't get me started on this, traumatic experiences from a previous life), the transporter, customs etc. is traditonally less then perfect. Soon little grasshopper, soon...
-
You people are fast! I just got the notification from play.com, wanted to post about it, and..too late. Good for you Juli, 34BP is a nice evening in town. But I doubt it will make any difference on the delivery date; the way I see it, there is literally a box of the players coming to the UK; there it gets distributed among dealers, they help their customers, so it is all the same deliverance from the Far East.

[ALL]:"Hi Juli".
-
Thank you for taking the trouble; I saw those before, but what I would like to hear is the opinion of someone here, the inner circle of Sony SQ worshippers .
-
I think it is still likely the Sony might come faster; Amazon probably got a on/or before date form Sony. Keep up the faith...and eh, those buying Cowons, can we get a review with comparisons to the Sony SQ of current players?
-
I'm still thinking about the Cowon D2+ 16GB+32GB card = 48GB. FLAC-support mean lossless lots of albums (I estimate about 150), great batterylife.. BUT.....the reports about cowon SQ are generally less positive then those of Sony, complains about small soundstage and cold sound with not enough bass, especially into low impedance phones, like my beloved 16 ohms Sennheiser IE, so I'll probably wait for the first reports about the new Sony.
-
Juli, you are an optimist; saw you already put your 829 up for sale. Good luck with the sale.
-
Hee, interesting, thanks for the link, Kafkef. This sure is tempting, but no price yet. That is funny, Expansys still sells the NW-HD1! That brings back memories, used to love that player, miles above the ipods of those days IMO. But time has moved on, a friend of mine has it now, and while it still looks great, the sound is just a little bit undynamic and rolled off at the top compared to current Sony's.
-
I'm afraid that might be that cradle thing Anthony talked about. My A808 (probably bought about the same time as you bought yours, very soon after it got available ) has reduced batterylife to, but I still easily get 12-15 hours out of it. Yesterday I googled on avaliability of the Sony Touchplayers, no other shop then Amazon.co.uk mentioned it becoming available soon, which didn't give me very much confidence in Amazon's estimation. But who knows, once a shipload of these arrive in Europe it all could happen very fast.
