  1. I just purchased some 80 minute disks and am getting the same thing after 15 seconds I get about 1/2 second of static. Here's what I've tried so far: reformat the disk, record with no mic pluged in, spliting tracks after being recorded, new groups and just about every menu change you could think of. I'm sure that Sony will find nothing wrong as usual but as I stated in an earlier post it did work at one time using PCM but no longer does. I will work with the other two formats but I'm doing field recording and want the best possible quality. Does anyone know of a special menu setting possibly a copyright thing built in that can be turned off? Well I'll keep searching but thans for the help so far. If you need any more info please let me know and I'll be happy to provide you with it. Thanks Seamus
  2. I'm using the battery but I'll try while plugged in. I'm assuming that the disk needs a higher rpm this may be the case but I seem to remember it working while using the battery but this was over a year ago so I may just be nutts. I'll give it a shot today and post my findings. Thanks for the reply Seamus
  3. Well here's the whole story. It is happening, at first, between the 15 and 16 second mark. It is also happening at other points after that but I've not checked the times. I'm not using the remote and I have formated the disk which is a one gig. I'm pretty sure it's the disk or, of course the MD recorder. I was just wondering if this is a known issue but I do appreciate the reply.
  4. I'm using a Sony HI-MD MZ-rh10 and when recording in PCM mode I'll get a little burst of static after about 15 seconds of playback. This does not happen in HI-SP or HI-LP. I think I remember it working at one time but not anymore. I've tried every option but a new disk, can't find one localy, so does anyone know if this is normal. By the way I'm not near any magnetic fields or other electronics so that wouldn't be it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
