  1. From what I could understand he really didn't like the browser. I didn't understand what it was that he gave a thumb down for but he seemed to like everything else.
  2. That would be great, thanks
  3. Shanie, you say "the Walkman X is A LOT thinner than the iPod Touch and all other MP3 Players". According to SonyStyle HK the Walkman is 9.8mm thick and the Touch is 8.5mm. Is SonyStyle wrong on this one? I made a quick photoshop mock up of the Walkman and the specs don't really add up. I get it to about 8.5cm in height.. the specs say 9.65cm.
  4. Hi Shanie, do you know if the Walkman supports unicode characters (ş ç ı ğ)? If it doesn't it could be a deal breaker for me. Since the Cowon isn't out yet I might go with the Walkman after all IF it costs as much as Shanie says it will. If they cost the same I'll get the Cowon.
  5. The x-series is available at the Swedish SonyStyle. The specifications are a bit odd though.. says 60 hours battery life for music and 16 hours for video but it also says, at the top of the page, 40 hours video. ?!?!? https://www.sonystyle.se/SonyStyle/MP3-WALK...o/NWZX1060B.CE7
  6. As much as I know the SQ of the two are both very good. I'll try to find a review. EDIT: Here's what I found after a quick Google search: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39405 http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f15/cowon-d2...reviews-374879/ Bottom line is they're both really good and it depends on your preferences which one you choose.
  7. I don't know.. I guess I'll buy whichever comes out first. What's most important for me is sound quality and battery life and both the Walkman and the S9 pass my criteria.
  8. I was just about to write about this. You beat me to it again. It's more and more likely that I will get the Cowon instead :/ It's supposedly being released on monday. Don't know if it's true though. I was really looking forward to the Sony.
  9. Yeah, you're right. It doesn't have a browser but I have one in my phone so it's not a problem for me. Also the phone isn't limited to Wifi networks for browsing.
  10. I doubt it. The specifications page says this is all it includes: CD-ROM ("Windows Media Player 11", "Media Manager for Walkman", "Content Transfer", "Operation Guide"), Headphones, Ear Buds (S/M/L), Quick Start Guide, USB Cable, Attachment, Audio Input Cable, Plug Adaptor for In-flight Use (single/dual) So most likely no Media Go software. EDIT: I just found out there will be a 32GB version of the Cowon S9 released sometime this month. I'm seriously considering buying one of those instead of the Sony as it is far more superior in battery life (55h) and has bluetooth, flash, 16 million colour AMOLED screen, etc. Pretty much everything I wish the Sony had.
  11. Looking at the videos at BBC and ITN from my computer I see they are flash videos but in MP4 format and I know Youtube uses FLV format. Could be that the Touch can only show a specific format(s), I'm not 100% sure on that. This might help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_Video
  12. The Sony is like the iPod Touch and iPhone when it comes to flash. They can all play Youtube videos, even have an app for it, but not most other videos. Like, say, videos from www.thedailyshow.com for example. EDIT: dammit Juli you're quick
  13. Does anyone know if it supports unicode characters such as ş ç ı ğ?
  14. I don't know the material but this is what I know from that french review: "For a first, I must admit that the object is quite successful with a beautiful metallic finish and a rather rectangular design with the use of a rough area on the sides of the device." Doesn't answer your question much though.. The whole review can be read here: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...ny-nwz-x1000%2F
  15. Yeah, I noticed that too Reminded me of my old HD5.. if only it had more than 20GB I would still use it today.
  16. I just pre-ordered one from eXpansys. No price or other info yet though. Here is the UK link: http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=177815 And this is the link for other countries: http://www.expansys.com/group.aspx (Just make a search for "Sony x-series" and it should come up. At least it did for Sweden.)
  17. My guess would be that it's like the current Walkmans, ie Drag&Drop, WMP/Winamp/etc. Windows 7 users should be able to use the new Device Stage (like this http://www.gearlog.com/2009/01/sony_walkma..._up_windows.php ). I haven't used Linux though so I don't really know what it supports when it comes to drag&drop and media players.
  18. And don't forget the Sony comes with decent noise-canceling earphones while the iPod comes with cheap crap. Sony's earphones should be worth at least £40.
  19. The 32GB iPod Touch is also £283, so they cost exactly the same amount. http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/shop...mily/ipod_touch Or am I missing something?
  20. "The X Series is ready for ordering in 16GB (NWZ-X1050B) and 32GB (NWZ-X1060B) flavors, with both expected to be dispatched between a fortnight and five weeks. As for pricing? Try £214 ($308) for the little guy and £283 ($407) for the big brother." http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/25/sonys-o...nd-dated-in-uk/
  21. crap.. was kinda secretly hoping for bluetooth
  22. Weird.. why bother putting an extra letter indicating the colour if there will only be one colour? I guess only time will tell.
  23. Black you say? Could that mean there will be other colours? I need more guesses
  24. "Sony Walkman NWZX1060B X Series with 32GB" What's the "B" for? I haven't seen that before.
  25. Thanks I'm planning on using the ipod as a portable hdd as I don't really need that much space for music. I have about as much music as you do (~22GB) in mp3 so 32GB should be more than enough for a while. I'm worried about unicode support in the Walkman though. I believe the current Walkmans don't support letters such as ş ı ç ğ which kinda sucks for me.
