  1. Thanks for the info. Well, i'm not thinking about solder the LCD display, my idea is to obtain the whole PCB and disassemble the cover (door) of the unit to change it only disconnecting the tiny flexibles copper wires. That's the way more easy I think. I have some experience in microelectronics, I'm a serious Walkman collector and sometimes I need to repair non-working units, but the microelectronics on the MiniDisc are so difficult and requires a great precision job, any overheat on a printed circuit may burn it and also can damage the IC's. In this case, I preffer to change the whole PCB assembly. I got the Service Manual for the SONY MZ and the instructions for disassemble the door looks interesting, but easy to follow step by step. Thank you again, and if you know about some SONY MZ dead for spare parts let me know.
  2. HELLO EVERYBODY ! I am new in this forum, around the internet I find this site, and is a pleasure to join with Mini Disc enthusiast. I am a Mini Disc lover too, I have a SONY WALKMAN MZ-R70 and I need help, the unit falls from my car's dashboard hitting the shiftstick and the LCD display is dead, completely broken. If anyone have the display of a MZ-R70 please contact me via this forum or e-mail, I need the replace of my LCD screen, because here around is no more MD for sale, and I want to continue enjoying my SONY for many years more, I have a lot of MiniDiscs and is hard to find a good MD player for me. The unit works well, plays and records in optimum condition, but I need to see the info on the LCD. Thanks a lot, I hope you can help me. see ya!
