Hello All, I would like to introduce myself on this forum. I have been a lurker for a long time now and felt compelled to finally register. I finally decided to bite the the big one and ordered a mz-rh1! I had been contemplating getting an i-pod or one of the new sony mp3 units but i've got a large investment in MD's. It started for me in Dec of 1998. I ordered (from Crutchfield) a mini disc bundle consisting of the md deck mds je-320 and a portable the mz-e40. I followed these purchases several months later with a 6 mini-disc changer (mdx-62). I got the mini disc changer for my '93 Formula Firebird becuz it fit neatly in the glove box. All of these legacy units still work great!! The home deck makes a ticking sound when there is'nt a disc in the unit but that's it. In 2004 I was at a Best Buy when I spied a HI-MD unit (mz-nh600d). I had to have it.This opened a new world of managing music on my computer using sonic stage. I even purchased some music from the connect store. I've been wanting the rh1 for awhile but haven't gotten around to pulling the trigger til now. The biggest reason is i have noticed the availibility of these units slowly drying up and I wanted a back-up for my 600d. I recently have redone my home stereo system and have been using md's a lot more now. I have some opinions that I would like so share with Everyone. 1) Sonic Stage: I have NEVER had any issues using SS to manage music and transfer to md's. I think it is very simple and easy to use. I import my cd's in atrac lossless and then convert them to atrac3+ 192 onto mini-discs. 2) Atrac sound quality is superior to my ears. My son got me a 2 gig i-pod nano for x-mas a few years ago. It's pretty cool but I can hear a difference in the sound. When I downloaded some music from i-tunes (connect had closed RIP) I was very unhappy with the sound quality! I like the way my HI-MD's sound on my home stereo, not so much the i-pod. The difference is'nt quite as noticeable using ear buds. Sorry for the long post. I hope to be a regular contributer to the forum.
