Hi, no the phones you mentioned are very different. The MX 90 are leagues better. I highly recommend them. They are also a clear upgrade from the cx 300 which I consider a great value for money.

Hi DSP, very nice review you wrote up. I used to own the A 1000 and really liked the interface, although the OLED back in the days was rather coarse. With the recent advancements in this field, I expect Sony to produce something great with the 800. A combination of the 700s sound quality and tuning options along with A 1200 interface w better display would make for a great device at least hardware wise. The real problem of course is software. As much as the latest Sony devices trump the iPod on sound quality SonicStage is still an absolutely dismal offering. It´s poor on features, unstable, clunky and in general a dead end. Sony needs something entirely new.

Hi, I don´t own the 507 but the 7 Series is a huge upgrade soundwise to the AW 3000/1000. Truth be told sound quality is superb with unprecedented channel seperation anf clarity. I have owned every iPod since the 4th gen Photo and all of them sound like tin cans next to the 7. The 71 SL are really not appropriate phones. I reckon the stock earbuds on the 7 Series are better. In any event, I recommend upgrading to the EX90 Phones which are a great value for the money and sound stellar. Just a few years ago one used to pay 150-200 USD for quality like this.

Thanks, I have found the same to be true. However, as nothing is known as to the quality of SS AAC encoder, I´d prefer to use nero digital audio codec which is of great quality. Is there any way to make this work? SS can playback these files but doesn´t show tag info. In my opinion again a rather half baked approach by sony.

Does anyone know how I can get Sonic Stage (4.3) to properly read mp4 (AAC) Tags? I doesn´t read itunes nor nero aac tags, only via ss "import cd" created tags. I have tried mp3 tag´s optimize mp4 funtction but to no avail. Thanks, ceres

I really dont care for fm reception. I was offered 210 euro incl ems shipping which would be around 319 CAD for you. I´d get one here but the volume cap kills me. I tried one at a local retailer. Sound quality is beyond anything I have heard previously, Navigation alright, Looks stellar and the erabuds spectacular for anything bundled. Sony has a clear winner on its hand.

I may have found so with more realistic pricing. I assume the default menu language is japanese. if so can it be switched to english?

Due to the ridiculous Volume Cap on European models of the 700 line, I´d like to import my next unit from Japan or HK. Does anyone know of a reputable online dealer shipping to Europe? Thanks, ceres
