  1. I got these Phones last Week and I´ve been using them with my HD5 and they are amazing. The sound is incredible...lovely tight Bottom end and Lovely highs.I´m using them with my NH1 and they sound better. My advice....buy them and you wont regret it...
  2. I have been seriously considering getting an iPod.I´ve been told by froends of mine the it plays gapless. That´s something that Sony Hi-MD and HDD players don´t do.Sony have lost the advantage and I really can´t see Sony getting it back....Sony have been behind for the last Four-Five years....
  3. Thanks for helping me out.............
  4. Got great news.....I´ve solved the problem.....the problem was that Sonicstage 4.0 corrupted my files when I changed back to 3.4 and also Creative mediasource re-ID´d my MP3´S and when I removed the Creative soundcard and all of it´s programs it messed up the Audio Codec so I reinstalled Windows without reformating my Hard drive and Sonicstage is working like a dream. It´s playing mp3´s and transfering them to my HD5....I wpuld like to thank ye for your help....if anyone else has this problem they´ll need to reinstall Windows XP from their XP Disc and Windows will fix everything
  5. Are you sure your MP3s are not loaded in VBR - variable bit rate format? How Can I Check..... If it simply hangs, this may signify a problem with DirectX or audio drivers. I had the same problem when trying to play WAVs in SS40. Open Device Manager, select View->Show hidden devices, View->Show devices by connection, and keep the window visible when trying to play an MP3 in SS. If you see any movement in the window (such as finding new devices, or moving existing devices to other positions), this means that you have problems with DirectX or audio driver installation. Well I did this and I didn´t notice any movement...if you could be a bit more specific that could be great....The thing is that when I click to play mp3´s there´s a circular icon moving in the My Library bar but nothing is happening....and when I click to play something else Sonicstage just hangs.....
  6. Now this is fun... Not really as I still don´t know what the problem is......I´ve spent the day trying different Versions of Sonicstage and it all ends up with the same result....Sonicstage hangs when trying to play mp3´s.......this culdn´t be just a codec problem but Sonicstage does play Atrac and Wav files......
  7. Rolling back to the previous version of Windows Media Player is fine. Just reinstall the latest version (and all its security patches) after that. As for database corruption. You can not actually see whether it is corrupt or not. But each upgrade (such as S34->SS40) introduces structural changes to the database, and the changed database will not work correclty under the previous version anymore. Even upgrading again will not help. Application database downgrades (under Oracle, SQL Server, or MS Access that SS actually uses) are not generally possible. In some cases they may be performed, but only with close participation of the developers, who know the exact changes in structure and data between versions. Believe a former DB Admin! And the SS database has a really crazy and inefficient structure (two files, each containing only three tables, one of which contains almost all information). And there really were data structure changes between SS34 and SS40, introducing Artist Link, new file formats, and probably some others. I would advice you to uninstall SS completely (program, shared files, registry entries, database, etc., possibly even drivers), and then perform a clean install from scratch. Look for detailed SS uninstallation procedures in this forum or MDCF. And DO NOT use the Backup Tool anymore - it will backup the corrupt structure without knowing it. Just copy all your music files to a safe location (it will be easier for you, since you have MP3s, and not DRM'ed ATRACs), and re-import them after reinstalling the program. I´ve done all of this and still no joy....It will now import my Library no problems but SS just hangs when I want to play mp3´s.....I did a clean uninstall....even reverted back to the old Windows Media Player.....mp3´s both play in WMP and Winamp no problems....Also in Realplayer....except this piece of shit that Sony calls Software...not even Sony can help me....great customer service.....If I can´t find a solution to this iPod and iTunes here I come becuase it´s has now been 4 weeks with this problem after clean uninstall-Reinstall about 50 times this piece of shit called Sonicstage still won´t work.....mp3´s play in all of the Media Prgrams that I have so why not Sonicstage.....I´m fucking Furious with this Software.....
  8. It´s very difficult to uninstall Windows Media pplayer as it just does a Roll back to the previous player... Quote-IF IT ISN'T BROKE, DON'T TRY TO FIX IT! aka, if your current SS version is working, then don't upgrade.-Quote Wise words but if Sony´s software wasn´t as Bad as Sonicstage there wouldn´t for all these problems... As for backing up my Library....my Library wasn´t damaged....only Sonicstage refuses to play the music because it´s in mp3 format.....
  9. Why do I need to uninstall Windows Media player...Sonicstage worked pefectly before with Windows media player already installed....the problem is that I went back to SS 3.4 had problems such as it was crashing and then reinstalled SS 4.0 and now it won´t play mp3´s and on some already ripped Atrac tracks is says that it needs the license in order to play tracks....maybe it needs the same also with mp3´s.....but I think it´s a codec porblem but I have the correct codec installed that SS 4.0 needs to use in order to play mp3´s.
  10. No I haven´t installed Uninstalled Sound Forge....Would this help my problem.....
  11. While the software/support sucks big time, there is a dicipline to be learned to deal with "The Madness" Software sucks big time.....Sony sent me an e-mail stating that they can´t help me.....talk about tech support.....Why won´t Sonicstage CP 4.0 play mp3´s...................
  12. You may have deleted some other files. And SonicStage gets hysterical because of that. Check that My Library does not contain non-existing files. I haven´t deleted any files.....all my mp3´s are now in my library in Sonicstage but Sonicstage won´t play them because it says that they are not registered to Sonicstage....I´ve just done a complete uninstall and re-installed Sonicstage 4.0.....still the same Problem....it won´t play mp3´s whle WMP10 and Quicktime have no problems..... I also have the codec which Sonicstage uses to decode mp3s installed on my PC.... MPEG Layer-3 audio coding technology and patents licensed from Fraunhofer IIS and Thomson. My patience grows thinner day by day......
  13. This misleading message appears when some files, which were previously imported, are manually deleted from disk, without removing them from My Library But these files are not deleted from my Hard Drive.....they play perfectly with WMP10.....
  14. Well for some reason the problem has come back.....When I tried to import my mp3 library I get an error saying that sonicstage cannot import files that are not registered to sonicstage.....Anyone know what this means......I´ve just upgraded from 3.4 to 4.0......also this could be the reason why Sonicstage 4.0 won´t play mp3´s......I´m really getting pissed of with this absolute awful software....I thought that Sony got it´s house in order....that iPod and iTunes is becoming more and more appealing everyday.....please guys,Help me someone´s gotta know what the hell is goin´g on....I´ve spent the last week installing and re-installing all the different versions of Sonicstage....Sonicstage 3.4 kept of crashing after launching and now this with Sonicstage 4.0......
  15. Strange ,But did you install any codec or something ?? Not that I can remember....All my mp3´s work without any problems in Winamp and WMP 11....Sonicstage 2.1 will only play 2 tracks of mp3´s out of 4,000 but none of the later versions 3.3,3.4 or 4.0 will regconise or play mp3´s.Is there a specific codec that Sonicstage needs to use and where can I find it....because doing a clean uninstall and a re-install of any of the Versions of Sonicstage will play mp3 files....in fact when I install Sonicstage and it asks to import a folder of my music it says that it doesn´t reconise the file format.....this is very frustrating....How can I find out if I´ve installed a strange codec that is preventing Sonicstage from playing mp3 files....Cheers...............
  16. Hi guys....I was wondering if someone here can help me.I'm at my wits end here with Sonicstage.I first had SS 3.4 but decided to change to SS CP 4.0 and here where my problem started.I installed SS 4.0 and noticed that it wouldn't play certain mp3 files like one in every 10 tracks so I decided to Uninstall SS 4.0 and go back to V3.4....I uninstalled everything and reinstalled V 3.4.....Now SS V3.4 or V4.0 will not play any of mp3 files even when ripped by Sonicstage itself....only Atrac and Wav and my NH1 & HD5....The problem is that my music is in mp3....also when I was installing both SS 3.4 and 4.0 when I went to import my music files I get an error saying that it doesn't regconise the format yet before I changed anything it played mp3 files no problems yet now it won't....I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything about a 100 times and it's really starting to Piss me off....so much that I nearly bought an iPod yesterday......Why can't Sony just create troublesome software....oh and before someone says Reformat your hard drive I'm not going to do that.....Please I hope that ye can help me and save me from this torment...............Thanks.................... wacko.gif
  17. Sony seem to be very quiet on what´s goin´ on....maybe they have a big plan in store for everyone or maybe they are just shitin themselves...I think the big suprise for everyone will be the whole Connect thing...I dunno but I think this could be something very special...I hope.I really don´t understand the hype over iPods...I really don´t.When they first came out, everyone bought one and if I´m not mistaken in Europe the Battery had to be replaced after a year of use and the battery cost as much as the player itself but people didn´t mind and they still seemed to upgrade to news ones.I remember listening to some music on an iPod and thinking to myself "this is f**kin awful,I´ll stick to my MD Player".I really don´t think that people really give a shit on how an iPod sounds because the iPod has become more than a music player,it´s become a type of fashion a pop culture which people need to be a part of.All I can say is that "Sony, you´d better get this one right. You´d better have something up you sleve or you may lick your wounds and go back to square one".
  18. I was on the Apple website as I´ve been reading alot about this new announcement on the 12th of October.Well, what I found out is that the next Gen iPod will actually show movies as well as play music and have photo slides. One can download the movies and music from iTunes 6.For me this is a very sad day for Sony as I really don´t think their new players are iPod killers,in fact I would imagine that Apple are laughing all the way to the bank,in fact I think its game, set & match to Apple & F**kin iTunes unless Sony can pull a f**kin miracle out of the bag.I´ve been buying Sony Walkman´s all my life but I´m having a change of heart...I´m looking to change my NetMD player to a HDD Player...any advice...Sony´s 20GB is Fuck All and the New iPod is 80GB....Sony has missed out big time...what ye guys here in Atrac land think...Oh by the way this has been my first post...This site rules..........Rock
