OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Another thing that I would be tremendously grateful for is if you would be so kind as to provide me with a link to the SS Ultimate full installer. The one on this site that you spoke of earlier. THANKS!!!!!!!!.

Also Steve, those registry items don't exist for me in Win10. Similar but not that. Also went to another post about this and tried to locate their regkeys that they removed that got SS working. And again, those reg items are not in my regedit.exe display

HAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice one Azureal. Surprisingly she is the only artist that I can listen to from that genre. I'm somewhat of a nerd/math-geek, and I have always admired and respected her as a professional vocal "technician." She is so mathematically pitch-perfect that it amazes me that a pair of natural vocal chords could produce notes and keys that technically and exactly perfect...That's about it for the soft pop genre for me. (well I admire Whitney for this too.) But the biggest reason I have her discography is to final test my analog magnetic tape equipment and tape equipment I refurbish for others. (Only analog..no DAT or DCC). Because of her aforementioned pitch perfection, I test the frequency mods and performance by driving some of her more demanding and versatile songs into the mag record heads and monitor the recorded result. She is ALWAYS my final test for my equipment because her songs are BY FAR the hardest to reproduce via analog delivery. Now you know why....LOL!!!!

I am running Windows 10 Home. I have tried all of that...everything I know to do. I have tried to use different install files, compatibility mode changes, admin startup directives, nothing works. I had this working on Windows 10 before...and I think had this problem and fixed it at one point....(Cant remember how!) :-( The message flags about 45-60 seconds after starting SS. I have enclosed a screenshot of the very exact message that I am getting. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM GOING CRAZY WITH THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for your time Stephen

Hey steven! I keep installing/uninstalling 4.3 on windows 10. After a few minutes into the program (regardless of the task I am doing) The software crashes and says it encountered an error and needs to close. I am out of options here and nothing helps. I need your expertise. Maybe the install file has a bug? Ive tried several copies from various places. If that is the case where can I get a copy of ""working good"" ss installer? Thanks!!!!!!!!!! ;-)

Im about to switch discs and see if it will read another one without me man-handling it! Ok it just read another disc...I tried both a HI-MD and a standard MD.... ill keep u guys posted if it acts up again Sean

Hello everyone, Im distraught!!!! I used my RH-1 about ten minutes ago and I just put a different disc into it and it sounds like it just keeps searching and seeking across or for the TOC...and the sound of the heads moving seems kind of "rough" It will NOT recognize a disc, nor will it stop making that "seeking" noise.. Anyone heard of this before??? I will be devastated if this was the end to my RH-10!!! PLEASE HELP!!!! Thanks, Sean

RH-10 Battery Charging Problem SOLVED!

Maybe I should remove this post so the cheap sellers on Ebay don't realize that there is a simple solution to the problem and the unit isn't faulty. JK -
RH-10 Battery Charging Problem SOLVED!
Kona702 replied to Kona702's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
No problem Wilton, I had to share this as it was driving me INSANE. I was sure the batteries were still good but couldn't figure out why the hell they weren't charging. My take on the reason that the batteries wouldn't charge to begin with is because the RH-10's circuit must rely on a current from the battery to recognize that one is even inserted and begin to charge it. If the battery has absolutely NO JUICE, then the RH-10 probably "thinks" that there is no battery even in the chamber to send a charging current to. (I could be horribly wrong!!! But this is the most logical explanation in my head at least.) Glad I could help you WIlton, Sean -
Jim, It definitely works. I have done this twice on two different horribly drained NH-14WM batteries and it has worked. I had tried EVERYTHING to get these to start charging, I was a millisecond away from giving up. BUT!! Like you said Jim, the gumstick and external piggyback charger are on a series circuit, so when the unit is powered on the AA supplies about 1.4 volts to the gumstick. It seems that this was enough to give the gumstick a tiny charge so the RH-10's charging circuit would recognize that the battery was inserted and begin the full charging process. My take on the reason that the batteries wouldn't charge is because the RH-10's circuit must rely on a current from the battery to recognize that one is even inserted and begin to charge it. If the battery has absolutely NO JUICE, then the RH-10 probably "thinks" that there is no battery even in the chamber. What do you think Jim and Stephen? Does this sound viable? Also...on the RH-10...the usb only "trickle charges" the gumstick. It never charges it more than about halfway (no idea why...kinda stupid IMO). You have to plug the unit into the 3V adapter to charge it fully. Sean

ok...I will try to push it down so it makes better contact with the disc surface. But I wont bend it...Thanks!!

Hi everyone, Quick question....when burning a regular audio CD with sonicstage, if I select to "normalize audio tracks" does this degrade the quality of the tracks by changing the volume? just curious because by having all the tracks burned at the same volume, it makes it easier to record to a tape or md for the input level adjustments. Thanks for the help, Sean
-
Thanks....Ill open the unit and give this a shot. Another thing, the last time I opened the unit and observed the mechanical operation of the overwrite head, it seemed to scrape across the plastic part of the disc surface when it's inserted..why would sony design it like this? Just seems like a recipe for disaster.
-
Aww that stinks!!! That's very strange that the overwrite head can erase a whole disc with 80 minutes of audio on it simply by naming a track, but it wont overwrite the blank part of the MD to write the recording. (That comment probably was totally wrong, I dont know much about how the magnetic head and the laser work in conjunction) So you don't think the cable to the head could be bad? I guess these heads go pretty frequently from your post Thank you SOO MUCH for the info, Sean

Awesome....doesn't work...it seems like its recording...but it doesn't ever say "Toc Writing" (I don't even know if it should say this...just assuming) It recognizes the tracks directly after a record...tries to play them....and the timer just stays at zero... when I eject the disc and re-insert it...I get the lovely "blank disc" But if I transfer a song onto a disc formatted in "Net MD" mode to my RH10 in SP format..it will play the track fine. The bad part about this is what Stephen told me about HI-MD's..or even any MD transferred via sonicstage in SP format is the same quality as LP2 for some odd reason. (Don't really understand why) Right now I am transferring a few tracks to a brand new Sony Neige 80 min blank MD in Net MD SP mode with my RH-10...I just played them fine with the JE320...but if I try to edit the disc AT ALL, recording a new track....or even naming a track...the JE320 erases all the tracks and I get the "blank disc" message. Anyone have any suggestions? Please HELP!!!!!! Thanks, Sean Starting a new thread on this for the problem
-
Hello All, I just found something at my local thrift store..I went back into the electronics section and BAM!!!! There was sitting a JE320..I was soooo excited!!! I've never seen an MD unit at any thrift store in my area EVER!!!!! I paid $19.97 US for it in awesome condition!!!!! :-) No optical out though! :-( Hey Stephen...if you're reading this can you point me into the correct direction for doing a mod for an optical out?? Thanks and I appreciate it!!! I'm off to do test out the unit and do some recordings to compare it to my 630 right now and Ill let you know how it sounds. TTYL all!!! Sean

I have an aftermarket battery that works even better than my sony batteries. The brand is "powerstream" and it is blue and white...I cant find a picture online to post...
-
Apparently any battery that says "for NH-14WM" in the text is fake...I have gotten these to work with some trying though. I found a trick to do so here:http://forums.sonyinsider.com/user/130129-kona702/

I started a post asking why extremely dead batteries on the RH-10 would not start charging. I read on a post that if you attach a charged AA via the piggyback battery holder and use the unit until the AA is drained, then the AA will charge the NIMH battery enough to allow the RH-10 to recognize it and charge it fully. In regards to these instructions....THEY WORK FLAWLESSLY!!!!!!! Thank you soooooooooooooo much whoever suggested that!!! Sean
-
YESSSS!!! I figured it out... I saw a trick someone posted (can't find it now) that if you attach a AA with the piggyback battery connecter with the dead NIMH battery in it and use it till its dead, the battery should charge. What I did was attach a AA to it and set it to record in HI-LP so the battery would definitely die. After about 2 hrs the unit died and I detached the AA piggyback. Then I hit play and the previous DEAD NIMH batter actually got a small charge from the AA. Now it is charging flawlessly!!!! Thanks to whomever posted that trick, I cant find the post again to thank you there!!
