  1. But that was always my planned outcome. Whilst I realise ATRAC is a superior format I need to make my music playable on other devices. I also need to get away from the horror of SS.
  2. Well I don't what I did was the best but it has worked. I used the MP3 conversion tool on the old laptop (which seems to have decrypted them too), copied the resulting MP3 files to my new laptop and am now in the process of importing them all into my NW-HD5. It looks like it's all going well so far. I did a quick test with one album and it certainly worked so I'm presuming everything will go well with the other 1200 tracks.
  3. So what does the File Conversion Tool do?
  4. Also, do the new MP3 files have tags after conversion?
  5. Actually I've found it. I dowloaded the version from the Sony site rather than use the one built into SS and it's currently running - look like it's going to take some time. Is the idea that once the conversion tool has finished I copy over the new MP3 files to my new laptop and import them into SS and then they'l transfer to my NW-HD5 with no problems?
  6. What's the File Conversion Tool?
  7. Hi There, I've just got a new laptop (Win 8) and successfully installed SS 4.3. I simply copied over all my music files to the new machine, imported them into SS, initialised the HDD on my NW-HD5 and started the sync process but none of the .oma (i have a mixture of .MP3 and .OMA) files have been imported into SS. Do I have to do a backup using the SS backup tool and then do a restore on my new laptop to successfully install the .oma files? I tried doing a restore once before with that tool and it was a bit of a disaster.
  8. Are there any new Sony MP3 players that support playback of ATRAC or are there any apps for the android Sony device that will support ATRAC playback?
  9. Hi There, I have SS 4.3 with a NW-HD5. When i'm transferring files from SS to my MP3 player I sometimes get the following error - "These tracks Cannot Be Transferred" and then i get a list of the files that cannot be transferred. It is usually just a couple of files from any given album and from what i can see it's always with files i've purchased online rather than files i've converted myself from CD. The tracks themselves play fine in SS, it's just the transferring. The files i presume are corrupt in some way but is there anything i can do to them to get them onto my device? Cheers Craig
  10. I've read topics along this line already but they relate to older versions of SS. I have SS 4.3 I want to buy my wife a Sony MP3 player. Will she be able to connect to the computer I currently use and share all my music? I don't have any DRM protected files.
  11. My PC has died completely. All my audio files are on a separate disk so I can easily take it out and put it into my new PC (when i get it) as a slave drive. My question is how will this effect sonic stage and all the stuff I currently have on my mobile device. Knowing Sony software is not just a case attaching my mobile device to the USB lead and copying stuff back to my new PC with a fresh install of Sonic Stage on it. Please help. Cheers Craig
