  1. Those were pretty much my standard settings. The battery would drop to the 3/4 indicator within about 20 minutes of playback so as far as i am concerned i had a faulty battery, however i had also opened the case and assumed i'd voided the warranty by doing so and have been stung for standard charges in the past so i done a DIY replacement and am all the better for it.
  2. There's a seller called DMC-Batteries on ebay based in the UK. Have ordered and installed said battery and its working a treat. The total cost including shipping was approx €21. Took ages to arrive but money well spent. I was getting around 4 hours from my player and this has now solved the problem. Just follow the instructions for removing the battery as above. When you have removed the four screws from the little "tray" that holds the battery, pull the cord to remove it. Then slide a knife, screwdriver or other object behind the battery to remove it - its been stuck into place. The reason for this is that you dont want to be pressing on the harddrive (which is directly underneeth the silver "tray". Then attach the new battery connector and screw the tray back into place. Pop the battery into the tray (no need to glue it stays in firm enough) and then put the rear cover on.
  3. You need to pull this disc off and then you'll see the screw.
  4. Yes it is priced pretty high, its ipod 8 gig counterpart comes in at 260. Then again it looks like the A800's are bundled with the EX85 headphones which are worth a few quid in themselves. If the price drops after launch it could be interesting, having said that the capacity isn't big enough for me so i must await for my A3000 replacement battery to arrive!
  5. Sounds like harddrive failure and or damage to me.

    Life time of battery

I understand that this may be a bit late for many users on this thread but I bought an A3000 in july. Battery life was good but as of late has gotten appalling - less than 3 hours at a single charge (mix of mp3 at 192 and atrac3 at 256 and i've the latest firmware installed, harddrive defragged etc.). Theres obviously something wrong and seeing the player wouldn't be covered under warranty (due to me opening it to fix something) i'm doing a diy job on it with a battery from ebay. Total costs of the battery is about £15 inc delivery - this should tide me through for another few months until something better comes along.
  8. how about we upload to rapidshare.com?
  9. I've had a pair of ex-90s since the start of august and no problems so far. The cord does feel of much better quality than the those of the 71/81 series that just went soft and peeled.
  10. For something thats a bit faster than the windows defrager i suggest using diskeeper professional or the like - i've used in on my hd5 from time to time without any problems and without taking up huge amounts of time.
