Hello;
I'm looking for some information to understand how the wired remotes for the Walkmans work. Recently I bought a Fiio Cp13, and it does the job but I remember my Walkman from the late 90 sounding way much better. I got a great deal from Japan for a WM-FX855 and it has the wired remote with the stupid proprietary connector that Sony called Micro Plug. The unit sound is amazing, even with the original earbuds. The unit also has a 3.5mm headphone connector but the mega bass and groove can only be activated using the wire remote.
If I connect my Koss Porta Pro the sound is good but not as good as the factory earbuds connected to the remote and the volume is not that loud. So the question is, does the wired remotes work like an amp. That's the Magic? Not a fan of groove mode but on older cassettes it helps. XDR cassettes sound amazing, also my LP recordings.
